I really don't know where to begin here.

I just finish playing Call Of Duty 4 on the 360 and I've had the worst time on XBL for years.
It started with a game on shipment and after running around with a Scorpion, getting 92 kills (that's my all time best woohoo!) the after game was pretty heavy.

Basically I was accused of "modding" and normally I keep quiet because if I spent my time arguing on XBL, I be there till the end of time. After 5 minutes of him calling me a "cheating piece of shit" I flipped switched on my mic and started to laugh and argue about how pathetic he was being.

A American guy on my team then decided to join in and help me saying I was doing nothing wrong, to which the guy just replied "oh shut the fuck up you Yankee n******". After that I gave up messaged the American telling him thanks for helping and was on my way.

Did it stop? nope and now I'm getting constant messages from him and his friends telling me to go hang myself.....I know people I just don't understand it.

Anyway to ask some questions

1) Have you ever encountered someone like this on XBL?

2) What happened and what did you do?

3) Oh and some general tips to help dealing with these situations.

I did search, if I missed a recent thread then I apologize

Because Mountain Dew combined with energy drinks and Hot Pockets makes teenagers stupid...

-Edit-Oh and yes, its like that in most places where American teenagers hang out. We get desensitized by the time we're twelve.

-Double edit- This made me remember times people were aggressive towards me. I was a major sissy, until I got dropkicked off a jungle gym.

Yeah I've gotten a few of these, well on PSN but same idea really. I think it's because when you're playing online, you could be the king of the world, and it is very much your domain. I'm not really sure how to phrase this so forgive the awkwardness. It's like, people are so stuck in the idea that they're the best that whenever someone comes along who absolutely owns them, it sets them off.

Couple this idea with the whole "internet tough guy" mindset of this generation, and bam! you've got a full inbox of hatemail over a really really petty issue.

That or they're just trolling, but I'd be surprised.

Sorry if that's unclear, the thought made more sense in my head.

Some people are sore losers, and those sore losers need to find an excuse to why they lost and that they win by you being disqualified in their tiny little minds but they can't accept that they suck.

I love those guys, because normally I play with around 5 people, so we all just stoop to their level and verbally abuse them. It's not right, I know, but it's still fun as hell.

Its people like the one mentioned in the OP, the reason I don't play online much.

Just file a complaint and move on.

I never play Xbox Live with my mic on. EVER. I mute everybody.

Its not worth it to talk to a bunch of 17 year old asshats who have nothing better to do than argue over a fucking video game.

Answer:

Internet to children is spinach to Popeye. Except Popeye wasn't an asshole.

You can never stop the growing of spinach, just have to accept its effects on some

Yessir you can. Always do so if someone harasses you.

I blame the sports culture. It puts too much emphasis on winning and rubbing it in the opponent's face. The flipside is that when you lose, even if your opponent doesn't rub it in, you are a sore loser because obviously IM TEH BEST RAWR and the only way you could have lost is via cheating.

Note that you don't actually have to play sports for this to work.

Conclusion: Jocks and wannabe jocks suck.

I almost never play online and when I do its with people who I know, so thankfully that hasn't happened to me. Yet.

Its like the internet. Behind a fake identity people feel like they can get away with anything.

I just typed quite the little wall of text before realising that what I was saying was basically bullshit, so I'm going to keep it at this: Shouting at and insulting (the mother of) what essentially amounts to a packet of data is a lot easier than shouting at and insulting (the mother of) a "real" person. Plus the guy is probably a douchebag anyway, judging from your story.

Oh, and nice score btw.

Because apparently the idea of losing with grace is completely dead. The funny thing is, if the guy had just said something like "Man, you were on fire in that match, lucky little *good-natured grumbling*" then everyone would have chuckled, and a good time would have been had by all.

Sigh, if only the world were that mellow.

This happens to me alot. When I kill someone they start shouting like crazy at me, but because they're so distracted with rage, they dont realize that I just keep killing them, over and over.

One guy actually lost his voice yelling to me , because I did that.
