Yes, Steam has its problems, but they have shown an interest in trying to fix them. You can't be too harsh on them, since their LOW point on traffic is 2 million people, its not like those problems get fixed over night. EA's Origin is just a very thinly veiled cash-in on the popularity of other digital distribution services. They aren't happy getting a cut of the profit from other distributors, they want it all.
And what evidence do I have to back up this claim against EA? Project Ten Dollar, that's what. Punishing legitimate purchasers of a product, and yeah, they've stopped doing the DRM shit, but probably only because DRMs are very redundant outside of soft DRMs like Steam, and it took them this long to realize that. Speaking of Steam, offline mode works flawlessly for me, I really don't know what you're talking about. Plus, it's not like Steam requires your game to always be connected to the internet even when in online mode, it just verifies all your games on startup, that's all.
