Why so much hate for the game "Slender: The Arrival" in GOG?

Well, in my opinion because the original Slender game was free plus was successful in scaring you- it was highly praised. Then comes a new Slender game with the same mechanics, somewhat improved graphics, and it costs $10 while only lasting you a good thirty minutes (as in beating it overall, nothing more to it).. you're going to get a lot of angry people.

I also imagine it has to do with the game losing it's touch when Slender keeps catching you. Becomes less scary, more annoying.

That's something I noticed just by watching a let's play. The game has an incredible set up and a near perfect aesthetic, but when Slendy catches you, the game gives you this full close up of what slendy looks like and then after two or three times, it just kills the game, the way the free version ends was far better, simply ending with the screen turning to static.

Also, on a side note. Nice new Avatar. What was the idea based on?

The original was scarier because it was darker and the way Slender man shows up is out of nowhere with the music cutting into a dramatic screech. Also it's a lot harder then the newest one because in the newest one.. your screen would shake a bit and Slender man's appearance was given away. It kills the tension plus the approach isn't all that scary after awhile.

Thank you for the compliment on my Avatar. I made it myself and I have this thing going where all my Avatars must involve a caramel frappe since my username is Caramel Frappe lol. As for what's happening.. I just came up with it like she's having a sugar rush.

On a side note, I don't appreciate the alternate endings the game has, because if they make a sequel, it just means that one ending is a waste of time. Also, if the alternate ending is true, and slendy keeps the chick alive, why did he ever try and kill her in the first place? Like I know horror games tend to be rather ambiguous but I found it kinda irritating how many questions the game raises but never answers.

Me neither I must admit. The ending in Hardcore was bulldh*t!
However the "secret level" was epic and weird as hell in new level. It also give a hint what Slenderman it is.........somehow because this is only guesses...

Also we never know if she is alive. We were only saw the turn-on camera, not her in person.
Also her friend is the Proxy we saw in the second part of the game.
