Swat was only introduced into Halo 3 which moved into Reach cause some idiot thought it'd be the "best idea evar!" and it spread like the bloody bubonic plague through the community who thought this was "pro" or "legit". This game type removes everything that makes Reach awesome. The armor abilities that change every situation. Only thing good in SWAT, I will admit, is no motion sensor.

I hate SWAT and snipers, i play halo for the fast paced, grenades going off everywhere holding down the trigger spray and pray fun, not sit around for headshots, i will be doing plenty of that when black ops comes out

hell i always get stuck playing team snipes. I fucking hate team snipes, all the lvls are just shitty for sniping. I Love SWAT and Elite Slayer, but if Team Snipes is in the same play list then everyone fucking chooses that one.
Absolutely. If you substitute SWAT for Snipers in this thread it would be accurate. I have seen SWAT games passed dozens of time, but I have never seen a single Sniper game ever passed up. I am shite at snipers, I admit, but the gams often end the same. One guy has 20+ kills other players have less than 10.
please. let us trade, i would much rather have snipers instead of swat, regardless of disliking both.

OT: i get swat literally 9/10 games, not joking one bit, it gets fucking annoying as flipping hell because it turns into one massive COD halo game, in which its not even halo anymore, and im not complaining out of my ass, 99% of the time i get 1st place because im pretty good at the headshot and know how to sneak where people aren't looking, but regardless its still annoying, its like me picking up my dogs shit, im good at it, but do i like doing it because im good at it? fuck to the no. it always ends up like the OP said, one massive spawn killing game, especially if someone leaves from one team, then it is common knowledge as to where the people will spawn and how to get them with ease. the whole fucking point of halo is to be strategic in your time, not strategic with your precision, which is the whole point of why i've stopped playing pc shooters and call of duty, but of course it followed me right to halo...

i really can't wait till swat gets its own fucking playlist style, so the fucking COD hardcore kids can leave my halo playlists alone. i want my team slayer and slayer pro's back please.

I don't mind SWAT in 4v4 team slayer. On the right map it can be serisouly intense. What I have a problem with is when people vote for team SWAT on hemorrhage in the big team battle playlist.
^This.

Ugh, when people vote for SWAT on HUGE maps, it makes the game boring and campy.

In all honesty, I prefer SWAT on Ivory Towers (or whatever the devil it's call now). Any other game type on a map like that is usually a grenade spam-fest.

SWAT's fun to me because I'm good at it.

Uhm, that's bullshit. SWAT started in Halo 2. It was a very popular game type in Halo 2 which is why it's carried over into the other Halos.

I used to be awesome at swat with the BR. But I just cant win with the dmr, which is why I always vote against swat, even if it means voting for another gametype I dont like.

Off topic: What does DMR stand for anyway?
DMR = Da Meh Rifle

Personally, I hate SWAT. It's boring, bland, and lacks any kind of variety. SWAT is basically an extreme form of a pissing contest, but with a severely unbalanced playing field. It's the exact opposite of the type of gameplay I look for when I play Halo. But then, I hate a lot of what's in Reach's most popular multi-player modes. I don't hate it as much as I did Halo 2 and Halo 3, not even close to my loathing of those two games, but a lot of what's in there is essentially Bungie's way of saying to the old-school Halo fans, "Sorry for adding such shitty mechanics in the last few Halo games, so here is a game that's vaguely reminiscent of what people loved about the Halo series in the beginning."

Sorry. Had to rant about this eventually. I miss Halo:CE. Halo Wars and ODST were the closest I've come to having as much fun with a Halo game as I had with CE.

I love how everyone in this thread says that anyone whom likes Swat in Halo is either

a.) A f***ing retard
b.) Loves COD/MW and wants halo to be like it
c.) All the above

No option for "Likes it just because" or "Its all about personal Choice, and he/she just happens to like it"

SWAT was my favorite game-type in Halo 2, but they had to have done something in it in REACH because now if feels bland to me.
Its more of all the games coming out between Halo 2, 3, and Reach that use the whole "3 shots to kill someone" thing. Too much of it and now it feels bland. Thats my theory at least.

OT: I don't like either. Thankfully in the last weekly update they said they would take it out of all gametypes and make it its own playlist. That way the rest of us can enjoy plenty of SWAT-free games.

Its here, in case anyone wants to read. You have to scroll down a bit. [http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=28836].

I liked it a lot more when it was its own seperate playlist and you could dabble in it whenever you wanted to, being forced to play it just because 3 other people do is kind of a drag.

I also do not like SWAT, I always groan whenever that gametype comes up, largely because I'm always hoping for Elite Slayer which is considerably more fun to play with the plasma grenades and rebounding health and the rolls and whatnot.

To me, SWAT is just kind of boring, plus I'm absolutley terrible at it, I swear my Recon helmet must be a magnet for bullets.

Still, if it's what the majority wants then I can cope with that.

I'm just curious. Why do people always vote for the SWAT game type in Reach?
Because people like it?

Why do people play game types I despise?

Because they like it!

I get it, so why can't everyone else?

Those are perfectly valid reasons to pick the game type, however, taking into account the fact that every single gaming site I visited before the release of Halo: Reach was filled with comments to the effect that they were looking forward to it because its multiplayer was going to be completely unlike Modern Warfare 2's, I find it hilarious that everyone now wants to play the game type that most closely resembles Modern Warfare 2. The irony of it all is thick enough to physically beat someone with.

I have never played MW2 and I have never seen it played, so I have no idea what that game is like.
I personally enjoy swat on Halo 3 and Reach, however that is my opinion and it does not mean I want MW2. (and the only COD game I ever played was back on the PS2)
I also enjoy other game modes on Halo reach of course, and will choose something besides Swat.

It isn't on fire is it? Because yes, that would make it incredibly easy to see/shoot.

I swear The people with the flaming helmets have it rough on these gametypes. They think their hiding but you can see a plume of fire sticking up from behind a rock.

As for the actual topic, yes it does seem to get played a lot. I don't mind it all that much because I do play other gametypes more often than SWAT and I'm pretty decent with a DMR. Also, if it's in Countdown BTB the game can last for only a few minutes.

Lastly, I find this is a horrid gametype (that and snipers) if you're on the red team playing on Boneyard. It's a spawn campers paradise.

SWAT's alright so long as it's on the right map, like Zealot. Still though, I find it annoying sometimes when you get downed in almost an instant you are out in the open. The bullet just seemlesly comes out of nowhere. It can get pretty frusterating.

On the other hand, the game type teaches you to be on your toes and be constantly moving during a match. Which can really help in the long run when it comes to getting better at Halo Reach.

I personally cannot stand SWAT either. There are 3 things they could do to make me like it more.
-Make it ONLY pistols
-Give it a seperate playlist
-Or... get rid of it.
How would making it only pistols change anything? Pistols might have a smaller clip, but they also have a higher rate of fire, and can scope in, so it wouldn't really change anything.

Besides, I prefer the pistols in SWAT, so shut up, I don't want people knowing that they're good.
That's one of the reasons, the smaller clip. Since most of the fights in SWAT end up in fairly close quarters you may as well only have a handgun. You may remember in Halo 2 how there were SWAT magnums and carbines, right? I'd like to see SWAT have its own playlist, and more game variants.
Actually in the first playlist update SWAT gets its own playlist. Also Classic Slayer gets the boot and King of the Hill comes to many playlist.
Awww, I liked classic slayer!
