Why the hate for the Bethesda fallouts?

As much as I love Fallout 3, the writing is horrible for the most part. I didn't really care much about lore inconsistencies, as a superhero fan I'm pretty use to those. Most of the characters don't leave an impression like in New Vegas, nor is the story as engaging as the other Fallout games.

i can't be alone in thinking that the 'canon' of a niche game more than 10 years old isn't 100% important when rebooting the franchise as something entirely new and different?

You aren't, believe me. Especially not now you put it that way.

personally, Bethesda's yet to make a game I consider good. so.. i donno? they found it to be as dull as i did?
