Uhhh... we have gone through this so many freaking times.

Black Ops comes out in 4 HOURS.

In a lot of places, IT IS ALREADY OUT.

The time to complain about MW2 is over.

Can we just forget about the pinacle of corperate ruining a game and just move on? Please?

I enjoyed the game despite it's little niggles. From the top, My problems were(in no particular order)

Incessant camping

Various map design flaws (Getting stuck in random places, very bad camping spots)
As much as I agree with you, don't those two points contradict each other?

As for the issue that the game is "broken" - it was for a while. It was fixed though. I wouldn't say it was broken now, just extremely, extremely difficult to get into. Simply put, it is impossible to casually play that game nowadays. You have people who play it day in, day out and have become extremely good at it. They know exactly where to camp, exactly what weapon to use, exactly what perks work, and when to use them. The game isn't broken so much as it's just overrun with fanatics who play it to the exclusion of everything else, and as a result, if you don't take it as seriously as they do, be prepared to get killed over and over and over and over again.

People say "it's unbalanced" because of Weapon X or Perk Y. Realize that you could use that Weapon or Perk if you thought it was so over-powered.

The reason I stopped playing MW2 was because I got bored with it. After I got to about level 50 or so, I stopped caring. I had got all the perks, and all that was left was a few more guns to unlock. After a while it became the same "spot dude, right click, left click, run, spot dude, right click, left click, run". As for "skill" it became an exercise in "who can spot who first, wins" or "who holds the best camping spot, wins". It was really fun for about a week or two, but after that.... it's the same thing, over and over. Some people can really get used to it, and will never get bored with it, and that's great!

Not the case with me, though. After you've played over 100 "team death match" games or "Capture the flag" games on the same maps after a while, you start just going through the motions.

It`s unbalanced to hell and back, which is a mortal sin in a game that`s based around the online play - like MW2

The reason most people complain about MW2 isn't because it's a bad game. In fact it's because its a very good game. And It's not people being "Oh yeah I don't DO mainstream."

The reason MW2 gets a lot of flak is because its very close to being a truly excellent game. The graphics are fantastic and controls are knit-tight. The campaign, while short, delivered extremely intense moments and while it wasn't as good as CoD 4's campaign (or in my opinion the underrated WaW campaign), it had its moments. The multiplayer expanded on everything previous CoD games have done, adding new features like callsigns and emblems to customize your lobby appearance, 'pro' versions of perks that offer added benefits, more new perks, many more guns, more camouflages, more attachments, more and customizable killstreaks, and more. All of this was set to be a 10/10 game across the boards.

Why didn't it? Because of terrible post launch support. Extreme over-powering of certain weapons (akimbo 1887's for example) made some builds absolutely unstoppable while full on glitches (infinite care pacages, the fantastic javelin glitch, hiding inside rocks, etc.) were rampant for months. Add to this a general unbalance of weapons (who in here would take the F2000 over the ACR or SCAR un-ironically?) and many people were frustrated by this. Because MW2 was set to be such a great game, many people had their hopes crushed by its perceived failures. To use an analogy, a few dark spots on a polished silver plate are much much more noticeable than a few dark spots on a rusty iron plate. Keep in mind that much of this could have been fixed by better support from Infinity Ward, who took forever to fix glaring issues and then released two mediocre map packs.

Very short campaign that makes so little sense that I have a hard time believing someone got paid to write it.

Multiplayer that's bugged and incredibly unbalanced.

I should have been more specific. There's incessant camping, as in, majority of people camp everywhere, bringing the game to a halt--especially in hardcore, where maps like Wasteland, Derail, Invasion and Rundown-- and alsothe bad camping spots, where campers can be very difficult, almost impossible to get rid of, like the rooftops and crane on Highrise, dock ends on sub base, 2 story ranger spawn on Skidrow, etc.

It was a huge letdown. It was an average-to-good sequel to a 10/10 super-awesome original.

imo, anyway.

MW2 is okay, but I don't think it particularly deserves the attention it gets. The only reason why I continue to support the franchise is that my friends love it and multiplayer is fun with them. However, if they're not online, I'm just not interested.
Its kind of strange the way the gaming culture here seems to work, the more popular a game the more popular it becomes to actually hate that game regardless of wether you played it or even enjoy it. Little known games or ones that sold badly people love to bits even if they have never played them.
That's because 'hardcore' gamers are the new dick punk rockers.

What if I like playing to win? I personally enjoy playing competitive multiplayer games (RTS, Fighting games, Shooters, etc) where the better player wins.
I'm one of those (as Yahtzee calls them) "games are art hippie-types. and a believe games are about fun and experiencing something new every time. I like games of skill but I hate when people turn them into grueling tests and drain all the fun from them. I like to have fun, not wasting time practicing techniques in a game when I could be writing a book, a song, or going to a convention or something.

Because they broke it.
There. Plain and simple. Broken game.
They had $40-$50 million dollars to get it right.
And that without counting the launch budget, which was almost $200 million.

If you have $250 million USD to get something right, how do you get it wrong?
Look at Notch. He had a cheap computer, java, and a few months of free time. And he made a game less broken then MW2. What does that say about infinity ward?

MW2 is a terribly unbalanced game, and the studio refused to admit their mistakes, and fix the damn thing, regardless of complaints from fans.

Problems:

1. The killstreaks are overpowered, and extremely easy to earn since you can stack them.

2. Infinite noobtubes using scavenger and one man army.

3. Marathon/Lightweight/Commando is unstoppable in suboptimal conditions.

4. Host disconnecting via dashboard prevents host migration so the match ends.

5. UMP is a 3 shot kill from anywhere on the map, with a silencer, and with any red perk, making it the most powerful gun in the game, even though it's an SMG.

6. Flashbangs work through walls on equipment.

There's tons more, but these are the most annoying things about the game that I can think of off the top of my head.
What he said.

Really, the problem is that it feels cheap around 75% of the time when you die. The killstreaks were something that should not have been added, as they are extremely cheap and easy to earn. Don't get me wrong-it feels great when you're the one using them, but most of the time you aren't the one using them, you're the one getting your ass kicked by them. Multiple times. Fucking AC-130!

People think it's overrated. With quite a bit of justification, too -- NOTHING actually deserves being as popular as CoD or WoW. I really do believe that - I even think Mass Effect, or even all Bioware games (though that's pretty close), should be your end all RPG. (Context: ME + ME2 BEST GAMES EVER! My opinion, obviously.)

Of course, comparing FPSes to RPGs doesn't quite work, mostly due to the competitive multiplayer. It's much easier to just play one FPS than to just play one RPG. (Unless it's a Bethesda open-world game or Dragon Age.)

And yeah, can we stop talking about it now? Asking why it's getting hated on is just perpetuating the idea that it's getting hating on, and perpetuating the getting hated on itself.

From what I interpret of this, and correct me if I'm wrong, I'm assuming that you're saying that you don't like it when people start getting really competitive and going all "try-hard". There's nothing wrong with that, but from your previous post and this one as well, you assume that people that do this aren't having fun at any point in time. There are people that enjoy doing this and enjoy a challenge that is presented to them.

Reasons why I hate it.

Inferior to CoD4 (the whole feel of the game is messed with)
The community sucks
No console
Stupid match making system (I always got lag when playing)
Campaign was short, pointless
To many perks (it just gets confusing and stupid)
Money grab

Just some of the reasons I hate it. In no way do I hate it because it's popular. I don't care if it's popular. I don't know why with how bad it is.

I must be one of the few people that bought the game for the campaign, expecting it to be as good, if not better, than the first one.

Boy, was I wrong... horrid level design, retarded story, and a criminally short length for the 70 bucks I payed for the game.

After Starlancer/Freelancer, this game represented the sharpest drop in quality in a series since I started playing video games more than 20 years ago. Hence, my personal dislike for it. It felt like IW just surfed on the success that the previous games brought them, and thought they didn't really have to try with MW2 in order to make money.

Edit: Oh, and of course, the giant middle finger given to us by jacking the price of the game 10 bucks up from previous CoD titles on release, despite the sharp decline in quality.
