He (and others) have ruined Rap and hip Hop, bands likes Run DMC, Public enemy and Grandmaster Flash is what rap used to be like and now this arrogant boy with his massive ego ruined it. Its people like Immortal tech who are trying to gain back some respect for hip hop and rap.
Thats why there is so much hate for him, but its not just him that has ruined the genre.

Seriously, he's a more pathetic version of the "I'm gangster, I grew up in the suburbs and a cop once asked me for directions" type rapper. He's not exactly terrible, as he can make a basic beat that doesn't make the ears bleed, but still, he is an annoyance. There are better, which are quite often less self absorbed and less publicized.

The hate for Soulja Boy is due to the fact that he is everything wrong with mainstream Hip-Hop music. He has poor beats and he uses lyrics that a five year old could right. Also theres the fact that most people bought his music due to the crappy dance he made. If you put all these facts together then you can realise why visionary's such as KRS-One and GZA don't like him.
Not only has he ruined rap, he has pretty much ruined music. He is such a bad singer, I don't know why he is still recording music. He needs to realize that his music sucks.Monkz. said:
uhh yeah, well if I ignored the fact that rappers like him have ruined hip-hop and rap, I would still say that he is the least talented(and intelligent.) out of all those rappers. Then bring in the fact that he doesn't actually rap.(he just yells "blah blah blah HEY!" and "Superman that HOO!!!!" Plus, one of the most basic principles of hip hop is the BEATS, his beats are terrible, like hurts my brain until I wish I had ear/brain bleach. Besides all of that, one of the things that irks me the most is that 10 year old girls everywhere think it's the greatest thing ever b/c it's the current pop/crap that's shoved in their faces. He's an 18 year old dick called Andre Ramone Way who desperately wants to be a gangster, so far the most 'gangsta' thing he's ever done is be held up and mugged. He seems to have no talent beyond what others give him and his ego has yet to catch up with this unfortunate fact, sadly his (ahem) music, performances and increasingly desparate outbursts against everyone from Method Man to Ice T reflect it all too clearly.
Which is somewhat ironic considering Ice T was a proper soldier.
He more or less embodies every single thing that is wrong with corporate hip hop.

Every mention I've heard of it refers to when someone is so remarkabley crap that the audience sits in complete silence until they have the decency to leave, at which point the audience clap slowly to signify their adherence to tradition and their dislike of the performance simultaneously. I'd certainly hope that he's using it in a different context though now that I've listened to one of this freak's songs... Because he's a terrible rapper and can't write a song to save his life. I listened to the first song i actually heard him sing on "Kiss Me Through The Phone" and I wanted him dead right there. That's the stupidest songwriting I've ever heard.
