We have all had ideas that we think would be awesome for videogames and wonder why they have not been made/implemented. I think I speak for most of us when Left4dead was a game we thought of years ago but for some reason no one thought we would enjoy killing zombies with friends....

Anyways I believe we here at the escapist are a smart bunch so here is a thread to post your ideas for games/ideas/gametypes/whatever that for some reason no one has done.

Here is mine, not very creative, but I thought an easy idea for mirrors edge mulitplayer would be to play tag.(I know sounds dumb right) but I think it would be awesome to have 8 people running around an area from someone who is "it"(that is faster than others) doing all you can to try to stay away ducking, leaping, jumping etc. I think it would have a sense of panic running like mad to avoid being caught. Kind of like infection on halo. Maybe i'm just weird, who knows.

Ideas! We complain about lack of originality so lets see if we can come up with the next big thing

That thing you described... there's a mod or two for the Source engine that are just that. I can't remember what it/they is/are called, though. The one I remember is someone's mutated or genetically modified or something so they're crazy fast, stealthy, and can jump ridiculous distances. Being him is awesome, and running from him is just as awesome.

Hidden, I believe. And yeah, the Hidden is super powered and can cloak, but he only has a knife, while the other people have guns and have to run from them.

I thought a multiplayer game thing where one team would have a defend an objective, typically located in a building, while another one had to take that objective. The defenders would be armed with pistols, and the attackers with automatic weapons, but the defenders would be able to lay traps, make barricades and also have access to a security camera system. As the rounds went on they'd earn money, and be able to buy better traps and more blocking equipment. The attackers would be able to buy better equipment, helicopter insertions, and various devices that could detect or neutralize traps/sensors. The defenders would get a brief period before each round to setup their defenses, during which the attackers could organize and purchase their upgrades.

I want a game where you fight bosses by jumping off walls, bounding into them with Chinese swords and then being able to slash your sword upwards through the enemy's guts hadouken style. I also want said game to have a story where you can kill every NPC and be a massive machine of death, or help everyone and be a flower princess (literally). I also want the NPCs to be HARD TO KILL. I'm tired of fighting enemies that seem to have no problem or greater purpose than falling when I breath on them. I want a game that exudes the ridiculousness of fantasy violence without trying to give it meaning--and if the meaning is there, I want it to be an observation about how ridiculous everything you're doing is. Because, well, it is. I also want the artwork to preferably not suck and the surrounding environment to look like actual people live in it, or lived in it before somebody or something came along and killed everyone mercilessly. A mix of RPG/RTS elements where you can conquer kingdoms or the path of the lone murderer (or even hired mercenary) would be great--though the path of the lone murderer would be more likened to an action-adventure game than an RPG. In said action-adventure game, you survive by defeating other skilled opponents in matches of both fighting prowess, intellect and possibly downright luck.

I would like a game where the player is stuck on an island and someone is hunting them. The player would have to try and outwit the hunter by building traps and avoiding detection. Instead of having premade traps the player would have to assemble traps for the items he or she finds around the island, using the topography to his or her advantage as well.

Um...no. Not Fable. You missed a whole bunch of the details in the description if you think this game is called Fable.

War shooters set in wars that AREN'T WWII. Seriously, there have been MANY other wars in 20th century, many of which would make cool games. Come on, why don't we have even a single game set in Korea? There was that big influx of Vietnam games a few years back, but everyone stopped making them...The excuse was "they weren't selling," but the problem wasn't that gamers weren't interested in Vietnam, it was because most of them just weren't that great. Hell, considering how relevant the topic is, you'd think that someone would have the balls to try making a game based on the various Arab-Israeli conflicts. Controversial, yes, but I'd like to see it. Hell, how about the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan? That was a major conflict that directly lead to the collapse of the USSR. Or the First and Second Congo Wars, the most costly and devastating wars since WWII. The South African Border Wars, which lasted over TWENTY YEARS. Many people don't know it, but shortly after we left, the Chinese invaded Vietnam too. It was a short but intense and brutal war; the Chinese deployed over 600,000 troops. How about the Sierra Leone Civil War? The Angolan Civil War? The Iran-Iraq War? Hell, even WWI doesn't have any higher-budget games. There are a nearly countless number of completely unexplored wars in gaming.

However, the problem remains us as gamers. We might ***** and moan all the time about WWII being overdone...But we still buy WWII games without a second thought. Therefore, companies keep making them because they remain commercially successful. Every time someone comes out with a game based on a real war, gamers cower in fear of trying a game based on some strange new, real, conflict they haven't really heard of, and then go pick up the latest WWII game...Then proceed to ***** and moan about how it is just like every other WWII game. If you guys REALLY want something new to be explored in shooters, stop killing each other in a mad dash to rush down to Gamestop to buy the latest WWII game. Developers will eventually shit a brick as they realize that gamers truly are sick of WWII and start madly looking for new places to explore.

Something unique and original?...

...

Ok, got it. A soccer player goes nuts and decides to use his epic soccer skills to destroy the world, killing 6 billion people. Take down tanks, helicopters, even buildings with the kick of a ball. It could be called "Balls of Steel: World Tour" or something. Good idea? Probably not. Original? Fuck yes!

P.S. I only used "soccer" so as not to confuse the americans. Also, this idea took all of five seconds to come up with.

A space-sim game that's balanced and easy to pick up and you can get out of your ship and walk around and, shall we say, go inside a space station and it be a TPS and you have to kill people or just trade and stuff. Basically a mixture between dead space and X3 and not mass effect (it was an action-RPG), maybe mass effect 2... oh wait, yeah, just give me mass effect 2... that would've been easier to say right.
Considering I'd been wanting a game like this for years, I should probably get off my ass and back to work on creating something like that in BYOND.

Sure, you could say that Star Control 2, Mass Effect, Starflight, Space Rogue, Megatraveller, and a few others did something like this, but the thing you have to remember about that is that they were all good games and we're not bored of the genre.

There's too few in the space adventure genre these days. I think society in general has become pessimistic about the prospect of space travel.

i wish they would Re-make Hitman so it was more in depth and had more choices to kill him, for example, your contractor told you to make a officials death public, so you could go to his house and cut his breaks, or you could "tip" him off that there is a hit on his life so he couldn't do the speech that day so you could get him in a place that was more clear. and i wish it wasn't so closed in, like i want to be able to shoot him with a sniper from a mile away if i do so choose, or make it more interactive and be able to talk to his friend so they would go to the bar together instead of going to the park so you could get them both at once instead of doing 2 missions individually. also, if your going to add a money system, make it so you could buy a costume to wear before hand, because if i have to kill a guy at a carnival i dont want to go up to a random innocent and kill him just to take his Hotdog custom so i can get into the back room so i can place a pipe in the engine of the ride hes on.

I want a FPS that takes place in near-future, and thus has the fun interesting weapons being made today.

If you do Iran-Iraq you almost have to mention how America sold weapons to both sides of that conflict...No one in America wants to go near Korea or Vietnam because America lost those two wars, and ad for those various African conflicts as far as the western world is concerned those countries don't exist at all. I do think the African conflicts could be very interesting when it comes to a change of pace.

Ever hear of Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/index.html?curid=11487701]? Not a totally similar concept, but basically a JRPG involving a Basketball player's mad skills reaching destructive proportions.

I suppose thta is somewhat similar, but, the way I was thinking of it, mine would be like Mercs 2 meets Fifa meets Spider-Man 2.
