alright in short-

Why do people rage about games or get mad and break things?
I mean seriously they're JUST GAMES, they have no value or impact on the real world (you know what I mean)and they're supposed to be fun... so why do some people get so mad over them that they act so poorly that 2 year olds say "grow up" I mean like, why do people get so mad about a GAAAAAAAAAAAAME that they'll break things for example.

anyone care to fill me in; because I'm starting to feel like the only mature gamer I know (...that I really KNOW; yeah I'm surrounded by ragers)

EDIT: People keep saying it's NOT immature to get frustrated; so allow me to reiterate.
It's not getting mad that I find horribly immature (although personally I find it a little childish; just a little) it's breaking things, letting loose and non-stop string of insults, yelling at the top of your lungs at the person RIGHT next to you, claiming the game sucks with no reason to say so (minus the fact that you lost at it) and just being a poor-sport over all; instead of saying like "Good game" and getting a handshake, I get "YOU CHEATED YOU DICK!" followed by one of my controllers being thrown out my window. (which for the record, I doubt killing someone in a racing game ABOUT KILLING OTHER RACERS is "cheating" ...it was F-Zero GX)

Simple, Adrenaline.
Because I'm tired of my things getting broken while doing something that's supposed to be enjoyable.

and I still don't really get it- what about a game could trigger adrenaline and/or make someone mad...

I just don't get it honestly...

then again I am referred to as a "gaming GOD" and no one ever really plays with me and when they do they get mad and break my stuff and...

I'm starting to ramble aren't I?

I get mad when I get stuck in a game or the game does something unfair, be it in SP or MP. It's usually because games are meant to be fun and when they get frustrating it can get a little ragey. Anything that frustrates you enough can lead to rage.

Last time I got really mad at a game, it was some racing game. There was one race I couldn't beat. No matter how many times I raced it, no matter how well I did. I would allways crash at the exact same spot, every freaking time, no matter how slow or fast or patient or whatever else I tryed. I keep crashing.

It was a little annoying.

well it's like if you are playing football and someone runs in and bursts the ball you get mad even though it's just a game because someone was being a dick.

Yeah, It's pointless. How do I know this? I was playing InFamous, trying to get the "Have a Nice Fall" stunt, the one you need to knock over 3 bad guys at the same time with one shockwave off the roof. Problem is, there's hardly 2 times when you get chances like that.

So, I was looking around, then BAM, there 3 on the same rooftop, "Jackpot". I go over there, and try to position them (I was playing on Medium dificulty). For some fucked up reason, they kept trying to go physical on me, so I had to constantly dodge, since I couldn't damage them (I could, but I could take the risk of killing them accidently). I was using the Polarity Shield Max Upgraded. They were about to get together so I was preparing for the Shockwave, THEN OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE, A GUY FROM ANOTHER ALCOVE HEADSHOTS ME AND I DIE. JUST. LIKE. THAT.

I get SO FRUSTRATED and SOOO ANGRY (It was like, the hardest stunt, and I was missing JUST THAT one for the Stunt Trophy) that I use my PS3 Controller like a club, and smash my 26" Screen.

I couldn't play for like, 2 months, or something, not to mention I had to buy a new TV with my own money (Including my Birthday-Money-Gift that I have just received like a week before that).

Games are desing to be fun, and they get frustrating A LOT. But there's no reason to smash things just because a dumb program is going unfair on your ass.

I've recently passed InFamous, again, Evil on Hard, and APARENTLY there's a VERY OBVIOUS EVIL- SIDE MISSION where at least 15 bad guys spawn on a Rooftop, THAT NO GUIDE HAS EVER MENTIONED BEFORE. And so, I got the Platinum and learned that getting mad to the point of breaking things is pointless, stupid, and doesn't acomplish anything... and that guides suck and that TVs are very fragile.

THE END (Super Meat Boy voice)

tl;dr
InFamous went unfair on me, I went berzerk, broke the TV, learned my lesson.

I rarely get angry when playing games.

I do get a bit frustrated playing multiplayer though, but it never gets much worse than impatiently mashing the respawn button.

It just happens, me and my friend are so bad at raging. One time my mates GTA wouldnt update, so he raged, took the disc out and broke it, of course regretting it after.

I once got pissed off with my controller coz' it did that stupid thing where you plug the mic in, and it works for a second and fucks it off, trying to make that work repeatedly for the next 5 minutes start to rile you up, that controller I had for like 2 days, bearing in mind it was the Resi Evil 5 LTD ed' one. I smashed it on the floor and cracked it. I nearly cried in frustration and anger.

As for games, CoD combined with lag, nuff said.

Because FUCK YOU IT'S NOT FAIR AND I HATE YOU

I don't get angry often. When I do though, holy shit. I don't break things or hit stuff, but my face twists into a horrible hate-filled demon thing. Or so I'm told.

Well iv never broken something but its hardly immature to get frustrated or angry at a game.

It happens, its something enjoyable that you invested some time and effort into.
So if something goes wrong then yea id expect people to get frustrated.

But i do think that some people get a little TOO Frustrated.

Getting angry to the point of breaking things is just insane. I can understand getting angry and frustrated with a game, but to break things because of it? To say that it's overkill is putting it lightly.

Because of frustration. It's a simple psychological condition that most animals have.

Nothing to do with "maturity", it's your problem if you take the game seriously or not (as long as you don't cross a certain line). I think people have the right to be frustrated when they just lost a lot of their time investment due to a stupid and/or unforseen mistake.

Fun and satisfaction aren't the same things. People will react differently to certain situations, like how some people don't enjoy losing.
Then I guess I'm just weird; I don't GET "angry" at a challenge or anything like that
I get excited!
because challenges are so rare for me!

...the closest thing to "angry" I got was I was playing contra without the code and I died on the final boss because I screwed up a jump

I just said "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" then started laughing uncontrollably because I said "this game is... poopy!"
(encase you're wondering I don't curse and I was trying to say something I never say and it came out "poopy!" it was rather hilarious)

...reason I'm ticked at "RAGE" is because well, I'm sick of MY things getting BROKEN because people can't accept a loss in a game

or if you must know; in a game where you're SUPPOSED to kill the other people, I killed my friend, he ripped out my controller, kicked out my window, slammed his controller (which was also mine he was using it) on the ground breaking it, called me a "Stupic B*tch!" then stormed out of the room calling me an "immature dick" and all these other childish things

When people play games, especially games, we get an endorphins and such pumped into us to give a sense of achievement and to keep us at top performance levels, so as males tended to hunt way back they become more aggressive and are easier to frustrate when things don't go to plan. In other words, it's your brain's fault!

Also, never be afraid to ramble, you learn stuff and such. I figured out how to fix my laptop when I started rambling. The conversation was about sandwiches.

Because people are human?

I mean, it's funny to think about it that way, maybe, but human history would be really dull without emotion. Some of the greatest works are inspired by rage, lust, jealousy, etc.

It just so happens some people don't have outlets like art or murder.

When I get upset or angry with a game it's either because variables outside of my control affect the game in such a way that it isn't "fair", doesn't give me a decent chance to play the game or is just downright buggy and unpolished which leads me to not doing what I want to do in the game.

And then the even more frustrating thing is when I do badly or can't seem to do something correctly (case in point: thumping my turntables because I didn't make any progress on beatmatching two tracks for about an hour - when I thought I should at least be able to do that).

I don't really have any release for my anger/frustration - and to be fair when I really do lose it, it's normally because of sleep deprivation.
