For proof, see Fight Club (I can't believe I just became that guy), Let The Right One In, American Psycho, Das Boot, The Green Mile, A Prayer For The Dying. The list goes on, but I will stop now.

It's Ron Howard. His biographical films (A Beautiful Mind/Cinderella Man) end up being grossly inaccurate, it's really no surprise he's taken a few liberties on the book.

Except The Lord of the rings trilogy. People flocked to those like it was the second coming.
