Got suspended for encouraging someone to pirate a movie.

I meant it as a joke as in "please don't give the people who made this movie any money". But yeah, that was pretty stupid (on my part).

I was warned (in a public post addressing two other people as well) to stop arguing once. Quite justified, as we were derailing a thread with our vitriol.

I feel lucky for not having the probation mallet tap me in the knee a few times... never really sure what I can and can't say here...

I've been put on probation because I said you can expect to find homosexual characters in Japanese RPGs.
And recently on probation for 'racism' despite my post being a 'copy/paste' of the OP with some words substituted to demonstrate the absence of logic behind it, I chose to use race to rephrase it because the issue was on homosexuality and the OP was questioning its genetic origins.

There was another one for 'being rude', I suppose for using the term 'blindly stupid' in response to piracy advocates.
The ironing is almost too delicious given this is a site that bans people for advocating piracy.

Around the time I started an account, I got warned for a low content post, but that's all the mod wrath I've gotten. Although there are a bunch of times where I definitely deserved at least a probation.
I haven't gotten in trouble at all until this year... and that was mostly for low content posts and also once for mentioning The Porno that starred Sylvester Stallone... I still don't know why I got into trouble for that...<.<
Don't worry, we've got our Neo badges, we can stop caring now.
Yep that 's the entire reason I wanted to stay away from mod wrath... though I got mine a while ago...<.<
I didn't actually know what the Neo badge was until I was up to around around 1000 posts. That's around the time I stopped cursing at people in anime threads. And then I found forum games, and my Neo badge was guaranteed...

I was put on probation for being a complete idiot and posting inappropriate material...

I completely own up to my own idiocy and think that I learned a great deal from it...

No, it's a good thing that you've avoided wrath. Although going out on a limb can be rewarding, as it might get you POSITIVE mod attention.

For example, I once got into a fight with a troll who told me that playing Dance Central would make me look gay (I thought it looked fun) and told me that I'd certainly attract a lot of effeminate people (but all the wrong ones). Susan Arendt came out of nowhere and questioned his sexual security. Seriously, do NOT mess with Susan Arendt.

It's one of my favorite memories of this site. Don't be gutless, man.

I was three posts off getting the Trinity badge.

Someone made a long rant about not liking Final Fantasy VII, but the reasons listed was basically a laundry list of them doing it wrong and just not getting the point of the game. Basically criticising it for being a Japanese RPG even when they had bought it in full knowledge that it was a Japanese RPG.

I responded with 'you're doing it wrong.'

I feel my response was justified, but my way of phrasing it wasn't.

I frequently do taste my laundry, and it tastes good.

I was given a warning for low content in the Advice Forum once. That's the only moderation I've received just by posting normally.

I asked for a Suspension last year in order to keep myself off this site and on task of finishing my first semester project. The suspension was then stricken off of my record.

Basically, if you could read your own message aimed at yourself without getting even slightly ruffled, you're probably good. Ruffled is a bit iffier, annoyed is probation, angry is suspension.

Probation. It was a picture thread... an unintentionally green post greeting a new user. I need to stop trying to be funny... or at least try to look at all possible contexts a joke might be taken. Lesson learned, achievement unlocked, self-esteem decreased. lol

I didn't hop onto forum games until around 4000 posts so I think I could've survived until my Neo came around... besides I made 90% of my posts between July and now...<.<

It's woman, but hey, the avatar is misleading :p

And I totally agree about Susan. What a woman, wow!

What can I say about posting? I lurk a lot, I rarely post more than a couple of times within any one thread and I work on a principle of reading the first page thoroughly before even considering posting my own opinion.

In fact, the only times I ever get really involved around here is when I get grumpy at Escapists' views on women... and I don't even consider myself a feminist!

See you around, probably in some gender-based discussion gone sour... ;)

I seem to get probated for trolling every time I post. Mods have a major-league hair trigger lately, and I'm not so sure I like the new order around here. On the bright side, however, being a polarizing figure means I've got as many big fans as mortal enemies, and nobody ever got anywhere by being mediocre and invisible.

Same for me. I had nothing to do over the summer, so I just started frequenting this forum. And by the way, the only reason I ever went into the forum games section is because I saw that you posted in there one time.

I got a warning once for a one word post. The one time I was put on probation was because I insulted Shamus Young.

The last time I was suspended was because of a low content post.
It was low content, I admit, but my last warning (Never probated for it) was a good 1500 posts beforehand, which was at least 2-3 weeks. It was kind of confusing, personally.

Haven't got in trouble for anything yet. Out of curiosity, suppose I solicite a mod for sex, would that be grounds for punishment, and if so, would it be the fun kind or the bad kind?

Also googling "punishment" with safe search off yields intresting results.

I've used a single picture as a post before, and for low content posts.
I was a noob once, so I got warned for just saying "this" to a post, which I realize is a stupid thing to do on this kind of forum. However, I've also gotten probation for low content posts like "ouch, lol" in response to a person's rant, even after I contributed to the thread.
But whatever. The more you complain about the rules, the more you're gonna face end up facing the banhammer. That's just how it goes here.
