The only descrimination I've ever seen or heard in school & on forums is against people who believe in god in general, (the catholics, christians, & muslims are the most targeted on youtube), & blondes. When people say gingers are untrustworthy or bitchy, I don't get offended because I'm an untrustworthy redhaired *****.

Well, hatred of the Jews has been around for thousands of years (even before the whole "Jews killed Christ" myth arose, they were still hated), and I honestly couldn't tell you why that is. I think a big problem is they've always been a visible minority wherever it is they live, and thus it becomes easy for them to be used as scapegoats. Hatred towards them as a people as endured for a multitude of reasons, but I certainly wouldn't blame South Park for any of that.

South Park uses the anti Semitic opinions of Cartman to point out just how irrational, illogical racism can be and how hypocritical racists often are (Major Boobage when Kyle ask if Cartman can see the link between hiding cats in his loft as they are a persecuted minority and anything else in history), Woody Allen did a similar thing with his films although it was of course a lot more subtle.

The problem comes from young children seeing South Park because most of them will not be mature enough to see that the anti-Semitism is being used as a device to show how ridiculous racism is and so a kind of 'casual racism' seems to have sprung up where people use 'Jew' as an insult in a similar way to how 'gay' is used.
This.

Also, Matt Stone (co-creator of South Park) is Jewish. Just a little bit of trivia for everyone calling South Park antisemitic.

In my experience it's only kids who don't understand what they are saying when the call someone a Jew. I don't think it should be used at all, when a whole race had almost been exterminated because someone let racism get out of hand.

I believe you've got nothing to say on the issue. I, on the other hand, does, since I AM a ginger, I have no problems with it, I loved the episodes about gingers. And as for the jewish jokes, I have jewish friends, and they often crack jew jokes themselves.

I am tired of people being offended by things that does not concern them. Have at thee, Ramirez.

Yeah I'm pretty tired of this. But this is a daily occurrence for me. But yeah, I guess South Park is where the blame really lies.

South Park, basically.
Jews and ginger jokes are many in that show.
And most of them from Cartman, who is an admitted racist, bigot asshole. The show pretty much builds him up as the character you're not supposed to emulate.
Indeed. But, this is today's society, and people generally find him the funniest. I guess they just want to be funny too.

I think its largely down to "But mum! All the other kids are doing it!".

I don't think it goes any further than that.

Grow thicker skin, you'll impress people with your 'personality' and 'character' and no longer waste your time trying to figure out why people are,'so mean!'

It just tends to piss me off that everyone thinks it's hilarious to make fun and discriminate Jews and hell while I'm at it, Gingers.

I myself am not a Jew or a Ginger, but it makes me mad that shows like south park and other forms of media make it to where they can form hatred upon one group of people.
Stopped reading here. If you are offended by south park, you are missing the joke.

South Park does it to take the piss; if you notice, Cartman's the one that says everything. I.e. the arse hole of the group. You laugh at him, not at the jokes he makes.

It's like in Borat (I love that film so much) where they have the "Running of the Jew" at the start and they all beat the "Jew egg" - it's funny because it's so fucking idiotic.

The people that use Jew as an insult are the idiots who take things like South Park literally.

There are two Jews in my group of friends, and all of us give them shit about it.
So, what do they do? They don't get defensive or insulted... If you get called out on your religion and you're insulted, then you're the one that views it as negative... No. They agree, they go along with the jokes, and they sometimes make their own...
They also aren't the only ones that get shit in our group. We team up on the fatty and make fun of him, and guess what? He sits there and laughs with the rest of us...
Now if only the rest of the world worked like that...

You realise that the Jew jokes and ginger jokes are just social commentary? It's just unfortunate that idiots take it the wrong way and disciminate others.

If no one has figured out that the man behind Borat's last name is Cohen, an incredibly Jewish name, which means you don't even need to know beforehand he's actually Jewish, then they truly are slow.

And Cartman dresses like Hitler when he persecutes the gingers - anyone really using South Park to influence their opinions is worse than slow.

As someone with a largely Jewish family (the other half is mostly dead), I've noted that the Jewish side originates and loves Jewish jokes. Jewish jokes really don't bother us.

The Jewish Hate thing in modern days stems from people wanting to grab attention by being outrageous. It's particularly sensitive to hate Jews because of the whole Nazi shebang

Jews are historically hated for the following reasons

1) They killed Christ (didn't save him when they had the choice)
2) They rebelled in Palestine and were cast out by the Romans. Thus, they became wanderers, travelling to other countries where they were hated (for killing Jesus) and were considered aliens
3) Because it was un-Christian to be a moneylender, the Jewish communities found a gap in the market and became involved in money-dealing. This made them unpopular as it was firstly immoral (Christian thing) and secondly, noone likes a financeer
4) Being aliens and outcasts, they were easy scapegoats

you bring up antisemitism and only bother with contemporary examples that don't even take themselves seriously and no one else does either? First, learn your fucking world history and the concept of comedy and then ask again.

it's irrational, that's all you need to know. It's a joke for 8-16 year olds because they mimic everything on TV and think their farts are funny. They're the exact demographic that is susceptible to being stupid in every way, hence the jokes on everything from judaism to mickey mouse, all the way to TOm Cruise.
