I'd agree with LoL for a completely different reason (though I'm sure your complaints about it are legit). They hold gameplay hostage and force you to pay or grind.Angelblaze said:League of Legends.
I'm sorry, but I can't take a competitive game seriously if you don't have access to the full meta game from day one.
And while I'm on the subject, I can't stand the apologists for this kind of business model.
"But they give you free heroes every week." Great, so just as I was starting to like one they take it away and I get to grind with heroes I don't like or pay money to play the game the way I want.
"But people need to grind to learn to play the game properly anyway." That's what a decent tutorial mode and competent match making are for.
"They can't just unlock everything when there are people who've spent money on characters and stuff already." Bullshit I say. That's a lazy man's excuse. If they're worried about pissing off the people who paid money already, make some new content that doesn't affect gameplay, exclusive to those people, maybe even based on how much money they spent to date. Maybe throw in every existing skin in the game for those who paid money. Point is, by saying they can't do it, people are accepting a worse game because they don't want to risk pissing off a few players. But you know what? If anyone wouldn't be satisfied with even the things I suggested above, they're probably an elitist dick bag. And if losing them as a player is the cost of the game getting better, it's a small price to pay since the majority would probably be fine with it.
