I think you are making a storm in a glass of water, I mean she just doesn't care about sound quality from the information you are providing me and she chose the ones that are pretty, isn't that how most stuff sells anyway? I mean, I really don't get you're point.

But they *are* cool...

Maybe she doesn't care about audio quality? I personally can barely distinguish between youtube rips and the MP3s in my itunes library, or between my laptop speakers and my sister's beastly $3000 speakers (Well, apart from volume. And bass. Goddamn, the bass)

Some people just give no shits about that kind of thing. Of course, that's a slippery slope, because if that's the case, why not just buy the $2 kind you get at the local supermarket? Good question, good question.

In my case, though, function was more important because I hate wearing most headphones- I just got me a $15 set of those clip ons. No more pressure on *my* head.

But.... art school teaches us that form FOLLOWS function. Apparently dr.Dre was never given this delicious piece of advice? I know what you're talking about though - cool looking headphones, depressingly poor performance. Sad, really.

Form > function if the function is negligible or something you don't care about as much as looking cool. Take hats for example, most people wear them simply cause they look cool, sure, some people may wear em to shield themselves from the sun or to hide their bald spot but usually a hat's form is what people want and not it's function of covering one's head.

Your sister apparently doesn't care about appreciating music as much as she cares about looking like a person who appreciates music, making her purchase logical. (and her a fake :p)

My sister just bought a pair of 320$ headphones. Nothing wrong with that, right? Surely they're amazing headphones.

Too bad then, that they're not. She bought Beats by Dr. Dre. Now, Im not gonna say they're the worst things ever, because they aren't. I will say, however, for the same amount of money she could have gotten much better headphones. Hell, For cheaper she could most likely get a better pair if not at least equal. CoughSennheiserCough

Of course I tried explaining this, and while she listened, all she cared about is they're not "cool" like the beats ones. She's 18 years old, and as far as I can tell, still retarded. I could understand maybe choosing form over function if all things (price included) had a negligible difference, but that's not the case.

Sorry for the rant but I had to vent. Instances like this drive me up a wall. Anyone else choose form over function?
Why would so many people choose an attractive person over an intelligent person as a potential partner?
People like pretty things.

Another mystery solved.

Your post is so awfully written that I feel the need to point out the correlation between your lack of intelligence and your pony avatar.
Oh look, another uncalled for comment from a pony hater. Enjoy your warning.
