I actually enjoy some of my subjects. I feel the same as you with regards to things like History etc, but that's down to a shitty teacher more than anything else. Maths, English and Chemistry are all very interesting to me, Physics and History make me want to rip out my jugular.

Oh and, Merry Christmas to all.

Meh, wish i was home schooled, learning from books is so much better then listening to a teacher I tune out. I am very social though, so i need to hang out with my friends there.

1. Hot girls and female friends. (I hangout with the guys outside of school so...)
2. Other friends that I don't hangout with outside of school but fun to talk to.
3. Kinda a combination of the first two, but school is a gathering of similar aged people!
4. I do like to learn

I just hate everything else because I hate to work. Tests, projects, and homework can go to the fire place. Plus it's necessary for everything else I will enjoy in life.

4. The food kicks ass
5. And I would have nothing else to do <3

Other than getting an education and good job? Um... I don't really know. My parents would probably make me, but other than that, I can't really think up much of a reason. I could just hang out with my friends at other places so that's not really an issue. Hmm...

because I learn science and as we all know, it works bitches. besides it's something to do. I love gaming but I couldn't do it all day, unless of course elder scrolls 5 or timesplitters 4 gets released, I need a time filler.

What else would you rather do all day? Sit on your backside and go skateboard in the afternoon, then post your crashes on YouTube? School isn't just to get an education and see your friends. It teaches you work ethic and gives you a taste of the real world. You'll be looking on your gradeschool years very fondly when it's time for college and you've got to pay for your classes.

I like learning. I hate the papers, but more often than not the reading is generally interesting, sometimes better (the perk of being a literature major :3). Also, I see all my friends at school and hang out on a regular basis. The social aspect is a major advantage of living on campus at college anyway. And American University is in DC, so entertainment is right around the corner, as opposed to where I live in NY, and have all social interactions through the computer.

Ok, seriously? I can only think of a few people who actually go to school because they WANT to do work and WANT to take tests. Me personally, the only reason I EVER want to go to school is to see my friends. What about you?

OK, thet me get something straight, if one of your reasons is to get a job and make a living, dont put it because thats what everyone says. I know it is true, and it is a good reason, but everyone says that.

So from now on everyone has the reason: To make a living and get a good job.
i hope that your fuck ups in the spelling department are on perpus(i know i spelled it wrong).

Meh, it's not exactly my favorite activity. Never was, probably never will be. But if you've got to do something, you should at least do it well, hence why I try to study as hard as I can. Actually interacting with other humans in the process of said studying is a bonus.

First of all, how come it's an invalid reason because a lot of people are citing it? That only means it's a popular and most likely good reason.

I'll cite another popular reason, though. Because learning things is fun and interesting.

So I can learn enough to get a job, earn enough money to live comfortably, and be a productive member of society? Not much else to it, unless you want to become a scientist or something, change the world and all that.

EDIT: Didnt read the thread, but still. This is the reason I go to school.

Why would anyone want to go to school? To learn so that they can perhaps better themselves or the world around them? Or maybe they just, um I don't know, understand what a privilege being able to learn actually is?

But you seem to not understand that. You take your privilege for granted, and doing so is wrong and diminishes the fact that you actually have the opportunity to learn.
A-freakin-men!
Kids in so many countries would love to be able to goto school, and first world brats treat it like its some sort of torture.
'Waah! I don't like math!'
'Waah! This work is annoying!'
'Waah! I'm smarter than the teacher!' (Pro tip: 99% of the time? You are not)

Heaven forbid you take the time to learn and better yourself.
School, at the least, is a perfect example of how only through actual work will you succeed at doing anything worthwhile. Everyone wants the quick fix and the newest, fastest method to get the shit they want, and nobody wants to do the work.
Want to learn guitar? Do the work.
Want a high paying doctor's position? Do the work.
Want to be a lawyer? Do the work.
Otherwise, get used to asking 'do you want fries with that?', because the very good chances are that you aren't some magical prodigy who will come in with little experience and wow some corporate executive. You'll just be another guy with a crummy job wishing he took his education more seriously.

Pardon the rant.

I might not like the work, but I know I have to do it.
This is exactly my point. I didn't have to take A Level Maths but I'm pretty good at it and people might think I'm smart if I do well.
You took A-level maths? Can you help me with my mechanics? My mind keeps drifting off, and I can't remember half of what's said.

Joking...still need the help though...

Because then you'll sit around in life knowing fuck all, and that's not really a nice thing to have to live with.

I went to school at first because that was how i thoughts things were in the beginning, like when I was single digits. Then I liked it for my friends and for the teachers. I stayed in school and went to college because I wanted to learn more and achieve that... and meet new people
