Having roamed the Escapist forums for a while now, I am not unfamiliar with the occasional "Zombie Survival Guide" threads, but this article will explain why all the carefully detailed plans in the world will be unnecessary.

This. Also, I believe infected flesh is toxic, so most predators would be killed within a very short time after the infection began. And urban centers would be hell for a zombie apocalypse. So many people so close together, and a mass exodus by car to leave that hell would cause traffic jams that would basically leave people stuck in their metal boxes behind fragile glass where the horde could easily get to them.
I'm not saying it's in any way likely, but if all the pieces were perfectly in place, it could be devastating.

Yes it is toxic. And in a city all it takes is one idiot with a grenade, one guy going crazy with a rifle, one guy who witheld his bite, and your plans all crash down to the ground.

Zombie survival guide 2.0: Barricade house, wait for a few weeks. They die form starvation.

Virus does not create infinite energy out of nothing. Zombies need to eat and drink too or they soon perish, and standing outside my door waiting to eat me is not a productive thing to do when you are starving/thirsting to death.
