Why Zynga?

It certainly seems odd for the developer of simple interweb games to be slaughtering everything in its path so far...

I predicted that it would be halted in Round 1

I do hope it doesn't win... yet currently Square Enix does seem to be losing out against it... =\

This is my opinion on the hate from the Escapists. The increased traffic gives the Escapist more money, so what's wrong with it?

I'm not sure why people hate Zynga so much. I'm guessing it's because it's a popular game developer.

Ah, they made Farmville, the most casual of Casual games, and they are beating people Like Square Enix and Infinity Ward in March Mayhem. Thats why.

I'm giving Zynga fans a chance here, but I just don't want Zynga to win. Even if it means enlisting people on steam to beat them.

if that happened, I would not get mad when they won. I could only imagine the amount of spam we would get on the rest of the forms.

You know, it's a damn shame. I mean, it's not like the escapist would want more traffic and thus money to help pay all the people creating all the content that you and I use up for free every day. They should just shut down and leave us out in the dark.

For the record, [user]Kross[/user] has said in the Tech Team [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/chat/Tech-Team?c_page=2] that traffic doesn't pay them. Ad revenue gives them money, more traffic simply costs site resources.

Or, we can realize that this is the real world, the escapist is an awesome place, and that a lot of people like Zynga, no matter what we feel.

I agree with this. People like Zynga, their games are popular and the staff probably didn't expect this just as much as we didn't, otherwise they would've probably added more bandwidth to compensate for the massive increase in traffic.

Well i hate them because they're scammers.

OT: Well - yes. I've already said that, they're scammers. And also have an ugly name. But i guess that publicity stunts just can't go over nice and well. Noooo, each and every publicity stunt has to piss off as many people as possible, because any publicity is good publicity. Case in point: Nazi party and Adolf Hitler (Godwin's Law, duh).

Then why won't they implement an admission fee? Selling a sense of entitlement is a profitable business. But then i and few people here i can call friends will have to pack our things and go away in search of a better place, where maybe - just maybe - things will turn out nice for once.
