To children maybe, but to wives, no. I think it's very old-fashioned (in a very bad way) for a husband to ever strike his wife out of anger/discipline. I'm sure this happens in many countries, including the USA, but I believe these men are generally regarded as weak/idiotic in most American & European countries.SteelStallion said:

But hey, I choose not to judge them, so I won't all the people calling them backwards and archaic after reading a six sentence (out of context) article connecting a ruling on a man who did get in trouble for beating his wife and child with the deep Islamic roots that exist in a region that has lived under Islam for over a thousand years (and had an advertisement for Abu Dhabi next to it on my screen).
