I suspect this thread will get locked soon, so I'll just sum things up into a couple of points:

1. Some people don't like the Wii. Fine.

2. Some people don't like the PS3. That's fine too.

3. Some people don't like Xbox360. No problem.

4. Just because Yahtzee doesn't like the Wii doesn't mean anything. That's his opinion, and frankly who cares. His videos are funny and interesting, but ultimately it doesn't matter what he thinks.

5. Can we all just get past this console war crap and grow the f**k up, please?

Yes! Let's! The world needs more ambivalence, and it's up to us to give it!

The problem of the Wii for me is not the actaul console, but the controler.

I'm a button man and I don't like waving my arms around while paying a game for the same reason I don't want to wave them around while watching a movie.

The word "hardcore gaming" needs to stop existing. Games are supposed to be fun, not hardcore... whatever that means.

Wii sucks and if you think its better then Pc then you're just not a gamer. You can play Wii games but that doesn't make you a gamer, being a gamer means you know what the best games are and you have a good mindset to furthering advanced gaming.

I'm not impressed by any of the current generation consoles right now. None of them seem to be developing any games that interest me, well Sony I don't even consider 'cause I don't have a PS3. Point is though, I've been sticking to PC gaming since the console line up lately has been so completely lack luster. So I don't see any point to ragging on the Wii when none of the consoles are producing anything particularly awe inspiring. ...unless of course you're into that mainstream shooter crap. (Qualifying statement: I don't hate shooters, I hate overdone gore-fests involving space marines carrying around huge guns to compensate for their massively tiny penises blowing up shit for little to no apparent reason. IE A game who's story would barely qualify as a haiku)

I second this. I liked the last generation where the console war was non-existent. You even had Sony licensing Crash Bandicoot games to Nintendo. WTF happened?

Troll, troll, go away
Don't come back another day
You can stay
If nice you play
But otherwise, GTFO.

There are so many things wrong with this statement. The Wii does not suck; play No More Heroes, Madworld, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Who the fuck do you think you are to decide who is and is not a gamer? So the frat boy screaming 'HEADSHOT' at his 52" TV after a hot round of Halo is somehow infinitely better than the guy sitting at home and playing No More Heroes or Mario Kart Wii?

Your elitism can kindly go and fuck itself. You are not God, you are not El Rey de los Gamers. You do not decide who is here and who is not. You never will. If you play a game, you are a gamer for the extent of the time you GAME with that GAME. The second you quit, you are not a gamer. That is the only criteria. It doesn't matter which console you have, or which is your favorite. If you like the 360, great; enjoy it. If you like the PS3, great; enjoy it. If you like the Wii, great; enjoy it.

There is no "hardcore" and there is no "casual." We are gamers, and although we may have different tastes, we are equal.

A true gamer would hold these truths to be self-evident and wouldn't bash their fellows based on their personal tastes.

People also said that the DS's touchscreen was nothing more than a novelty capable of nothing more than minigames and pet simulators. People are stupid sometimes.

Well, at least this time when Yahtzee bashes the Wii, the inevitable response post was something different.

I don't think I'll comment on the whole thing, other than to say I disagree with Yahtzee on just about everything regarding the console, and my Wii gets a lot of use.

Can you state that in the form of a limerick?

I'd quote the rest of your post, but it seems like too much effort, since my response would just be "QFT."

That makes no sense.

To Flying-Emu, thank you, that's what I'm trying to put across. I don't hope to change the internet, maybe just get a bit more understanding of it.

...On second thoughts, maybe that's a bad idea.

As much as I agree with every single word you wrote, I fear they were wasted on this troll. Shame too, because that rhyme was rather beautiful.

Wii games I own and enjoy, none of which are shovelware:

-Castle Shikigami 3
-Milestone/Ultimate Shooting Collection(Radio Allergy/Karous/Chaos Field)
-Baroque
-Trauma Center: New Blood
-Geometry Wars Galaxies
-No More Heroes
-Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

The Wii has solid games, like any other console. You just have to know where to look.

The only game that was worth playing for me on the Wii was Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, and sadly that's just a port, not an original Wii game.

And the other games I have for it (Brawl and Conduit) are just failures, stopped playing them only after a few hours of play.

I played Super Mario Galaxy, I was dissapointed, it seemed so dull and uninspired, not even close to being good as Super Mario 64, one of my old favorites.

I have 3 GH games for the Wii, they were fun to play, BUT they would have been just as fun to play on the 360 or PS3, and sadly much more enjoyable. Why? Cause I wouldn't need to waste money on extra Wii controllers just to be able to play with friends at the same time, and every now and then the background audience in GHWT was glitchy and you could see the ugly squares that made up the shadowy audience.

In all seriousness, I will not consider getting more games for the Wii. It's hopeless, no games can be worth playing on it. Why? Cause any good game in the future could easily come out for the 360, PS3, and PC instead of the Wii and have the (rightfully deserved)luxury of significantly better graphics and better hardware capabilities to enhance the game's experience for the person playing it.

Whereas we, the fans, have been abandoned.
No, you're not. Nintendo are putting just as much time into making games for their fans now as they did during the Gamecube era, which in turn was more than they did during the N64 era, and that in turn was more than during the SNES era. (Nintendo have more internal game studios now than they did before.)

The fact is that Nintendo have always been slow to release new games in their popular franchises. A development cycle of 2-4 years isn't unusual, which is in stark contrast to the average game developer's cycle of 1-2 years. "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" and "Super Mario Galaxy 2" are the two games that stand out with their short development cycles, since they reuse/-d the engines and plenty of other resources from their predecessors.

Nintendo "abandoning their fanbase" for so-called "casual gamers" is nothing but media hype and whining on the Internet. Media coined the term "casual gamers", not Nintendo, and as far as Nintendo's concerned they're giving new gamers a smoother transition into the medium while continuing their usual efforts to just develop excellent games.

Anyway...
As for my personal list of Wii games...

Bully: Scholarship Edition
de Blob
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
MadWorld
Metal Slug Anthology
No More Heroes
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure

I just need a new TV to play them. And more money to spend on all the other games I want.

Oh, and I've already played Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 on my brother's Wii. I'll be getting Metroid Prime Trilogy for myself soon enough, and my own copy of Super Mario Galaxy eventually... although that's not a priority, since I've already played it and would rather get some good third party titles to show my support.

I don't have a problem with the Wii I just have a PS3 also and not a lot of time. I'm trying to go through all the older games I haven't had a chance to play yet on the PS3. So when it came down to picking up the PS3 or Wii controller I always picked up the PS3. The only time I would play the Wii was when people were over to party and we could all play together. Today I no longer have the Wii, I sold it.

To each their own though. If you like it stick with your guns.

Go look up a game called Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Wii exclusive.

And it looks gorgeous.
