We all known u seen the netgear router morons were posting, saying it was the new Nintendo... Now that their are surfacing--real--facts and shown only what the controller can do... Are you going to switch to the Wii U ?

I've read all the articles that escapist posted and few user reviews, but some are really missing the point.
Nintendo has only shown the controller and few pics of the new console. Not one technical aspect other then the HDMI ranges, which surpass all the othr consoles' resolutions[Since I know you didn't notice that].

Wii U is taking a brand new perspective into gaming... By adding functionality. The controller can be used as a tool inside minigames and add more perspective inside any basic game.

No one will really be able to grasp what technical aspects the console will have and I doubt Nintendo will reveal anything -- Because Nintendo has never once have; Nintendo never told anyone what their console can do. You can look at any website and all you will see is `guestimations.

Either way--once I see what titles are soon to be avaliable for the new console, I'm definitely switching once I seen some videos of the game in action on that console.

So far they announced Battlefield 3... Batman Arkham Asylum... With major publishers from THQ, EA, Rocksteady, Ubisoft, Namco, and a few others say they are aiming to place their major platform titles on the Wii U.

So what do you think?

Nope. It looks incredibly gimmicky, I've seen no online info, I am still incredibly biased towards Nintendo and their franchises and the price point could just be incredibly high. My 360 and PS3 are serving me fine, thank you very much, I'll wait for new iterations of those.

Unless the WiiU is dirt cheap. Also, damn it, even typing that name makes me feel like a jackass.

Depends on the price of it and the controller. If it's as cheap as the Wii was, then hell yes my friend. If it's as expensive as say whatever Microsoft and Sony bring out this year, then I'll have to think about it...that said the pad could be really useful to gaming and I hear it isn't as clunky or huge as it looks...

I already have a PS3 and a 360. I see no need to get another console. Sorry Nintendo.

Aside from some inevitable console exclusives, I don't find the need for me to switch just for multi-platform titles, because my PS3 serves the purpose just as well. Of course, I still have the interest in WiiU, but probably won't be getting it until after later edition releases and price drop.

If Nintendo convince me that AAA 3rd party games will keep coming out for at least 5 years, yeap I'll buy it.

I currently share my gaming between a Wii that I got just for Nintendo's 1st party exclusives, and a pc where I play games like Metro 2033,Fallout 3,Crysis etc..

I wish there would be a platform that would allow me to play both Nintendo's 1st party games and AAA 3rd party games on it.

Wii U seems to do just that.
If 3rd party support will continue after the rest 2 companies bring out their new consoles,I'll buy a Wii U.

The money I would have to give for a new graphics card that could keep up for 5 years would be the same if not more than what Wii U will cost.

And NO,xbox360 or ps3 are not options for my case.
I had a xbox360 and it broke 4 times with RROD,I bought another one and it also broke with RROD and I wasted more than 1000$ for Microsoft's f%#^ing console and I can't play right now.
Oh,and I never liked Sony's consoles,neither ps1,ps2 or now ps3.

No thanks.
Nintendo never really captured my attention with any of the multi-platform titles and I was not a "core" Nintendo player in the retrodays. So not a chance.

Id like to know what the console looks like, what its OS is like, and what features it has. Its a solid maybe for me, but colour me interested

I also had a conversation with a rather loud gentleman about the new controller. I think it would be great for RPGs.

Edit: While searching for the console, I found this

If the thing gets extensive 3rd party support, by which I mean it gets all the same games the 360 and PS3 get, then I'll be more than willing to make the switch.

Until it can prove that, I'll remain cautious about this.

Clearly Nintendo are trying to get basically every third party developer on board. Thing is... out of the big three, Nintendo have the most famous, most respected, most loved and simply the best first party titles. Their own games drive the vast majority of their hardware sales.

The problem that this has created is that basically Nintendo missed out on an entire generation of games. The Wii simply couldn't handle them, and so we bought them elsewhere. I don't own a Wii, because I wanted third party titles. Now, Nintendo are trying to use the titles we already own to get us to buy their new hardware. Strangely, they're in the same position they've always been - their games are going to have to be the main reason to buy their new hardware, because we already own everything else.

On top of this, because most titles are "multiplatform", which means they don't actually use the specific features of any one console - they only use the shared features, Nintendo have basically assured we're going to see sloppy ports and cheap, expendable third party games. It'll be down to Nintendo to really show off what their new console can do.

Much lik the Wii, I'll wait this out and decide after the first price drop. The Wii simply didn't deliver. The Wii U can deliver... but what's is trying to deliver I already own. It's a rough spot to be in.

Don't have to "switch". I'm going to be on board with all three consoles next gen, same as this one.
There's an interesting point actually. Is the Wii U the first 8th generation console or the only 7.5 gen one?

I'll probably be getting one though.

I don't think so, it looks expensive, I've already traded in a 360 for having less usage, I don't see much logic in getting a very late new addition to the generation, by the time it actually releases, Microsoft and Sony will already have rumours of next console specs and details flying about.

It looks cool, but it looks cool to play on someone elses, not enough longivity for me to go out and splash the cash myself, especially if my PS3 and Vita will be doing breifly the same things.
