It would not raise immersion because you would have to take your eyes off the screen and actually look at the controller itself, which breaks the immersion. Otherwise, good post.

You know though. If the 3DS falls through for some reason, and the Cafe (I refuse to call it by a name that sounds like a neanderthal learning English) falls through for some reason. Nintendo is gone. G-O-N-E, gone. No one could recover from two hardware fails.

How long can the fan base hold out? Will the 3DS power up in time? Find out on the next episode of Myamoto Ball Z!

It doesn't really matter that the controller is huge; you can still reach the buttons. Also, I recall there being something about how you can "feel" the touchscreen buttons. There were rumors going around calling it "WiiFeel". And if it can't then we can hope developers won't be stupid by making you have to switch in real time, unless it's some kind of drawing function or acts as a wacom tablet where it moves a cursor on the screen so you don't even need to look at it.

Aside from that, the real issue is how much is this thing going to cost. I'm not accepting anything more than 40$ for the controllers and nothing more than 300$ for the console.
Sorry to rain on your parade but its not going to cost under 40. You are sadly mistaken. If a normal controller cost around 40-50 dollar then these will cost most likely double. So looking at probably 80 at the least. If it is at 40-50 dollar range then expect a cheaply made one.
I honestly did not expect the PS Vita to be 250$ so there's the possibility it'll be cheaper than you think. Until the price is revealed, can't be absolute in your assumptions. Also, if it has a long battery life and is rechargeable (something the wii-motes didn't have) than I'm willing to at MOST pay 60$. Any higher and I'll consider it a setback on what appears to be a good looking console.

I think I read somewhere that this controller would only work one at a time. So don't think their will be a need for having more then one. Unless of course it breaks which depends on how good they make it. I never really like having Touch Screen due to making it cover in finger prints or smudging which sucks.

Idk, I just don't like this at all and will not get it.

That would be kind of dumb, how are you supposed to play multiplayer on one controller?

can you link a source that says only 1 WiiU controller at a time. If that's true, while yes it's easier on the wallet, it sure does turn down gaming possibilities like a local multiplayer card game or FPS which was never possible/fair because you could always see the other person's screen.

About the touchscreen, you can always just clean it; they're pretty damn durable.

Anyone remember how Metroid Prime Hunters for the DS allowed for "damn near mouse" levels of precision with the stylus despite the fact that it was a handheld game? Imagine that for an even bigger title.

Like Metroid Prime Hunters 2.

hmm can't find it now...but anyways sure you can clean it but what if the screen breaks or cracks due to something really stupid happening. Idk time will tell but I just think this is just a gimmick like most of nintendo stuff and the games that are suppose to come out to this system are going to be poor console ports. At least in my opinion anyways.

Why am I thinking of using the new controller in an RTS?

Send your orders to your troops and on screen it will show battles taking place and who's winning/losing.

It has small potential that will mostly be unused(or used very badly), the main issue is the price, this shit will not be cheap and unless the price can compete with PS3 there is no way people will buy it, not to mention the market is already saturated with equivalent consoles so howmuch maneuvering space does that really give them.

And that pavement slab of a controller... does not look like the funnest thing to play with, and for how long can you actually play with something that heavy.

If you think the touchscreen will be useful for non-drawing commands, you've obviously never tried to dial an iPhone blind. Drawn commands will obviously work very well, but how many games will implement such platform specific functionality when everyone knows the real money is in multiplatform releases?
