WiiU/3DS players, do you ever use the gryoscope functions?

So I've been playing Wind Waker HD and it never occured to me how cool it feels aiming by tilting the pad. I never even knew you could do it, it feels great!

I like the scanny thing in ZombiU. Like is about all I can describe it as. I 'unno, I like the idea of it having information that the main screen doesn't.

In the Wonderful 101, however, anything using the gyroscope felt supremely tacked on, but I guess you gotta do that with the hardware early on in the cycle.

Only for ZombiU will I use the Gyroscope on my Wii U. I utterly despise most motion controls, and if given the option for other controls I will generally use them. On the 3DS, Triple Deluxe's use of Gyroscope isn't bad, so I don't mind it that much. But in games like Wind Waker HD in which you can control with Gyroscope, I'll just switch to my Pro Controller than you. :p

I really wish that the Pro Controller for Wonderful 101 could be used in single player and not just multiplayer, because like you said it feels really tacked on unfortunately.

I actually kinda like the gyroscope on the 3DS. It's kind of a neat feature. One example I can think of where a game uses it, is MGS Snake Eater 3D. In that game, the gyroscope is used to keep Snake balanced on bramches and unstable bridges. But I mostly use the gyroscope feature to make the icons on the 3DS main screen spin. So much fun.

I love the games that require that!

My favourite ones are the Pokemon one, and the one that comes on the DS that actually show things flying around your room which you have to shoot... it's a nice touch!

Aiming on LoZ:OoT was awesome with it though... although it is difficult sometimes... At least with that game you can use the stick to aim... with some games, like Mario Party, it makes playing in bed really damn difficult!

Sometimes.
I liked it in many of the Nintendoland games and ZombiU.
Later I haven't really used it...

3DS I'm not a fan of the gyro functions, so I usually turn them off. On the WiiU however, it makes Mario Kart 8 more fun for me when I'm with my friends as I'll spaz out with it and usually get some good reactions.

I can actually aim faster for most things using the Gyroscope on the Wii U and 3DS. The Zelda game in NintendoLand and using the bow and arrow in in Ocarina of Time on the 3DS is so satisfying. The best is if you play them while in a swivel chair so you can rotate really fast. While I don't like using it for games like Mario Kart 8, I do wish there were more shooting games where I could use the Gyroscope.

Yeah I liked it in Ocarina of Time 3D when using it to aim the bow, hookshot, slingshot etc. It works pretty well in that game. I remember thinking it worked very well in Nintendo Land for Wii U, and I liked using it in Wind Waker HD. Usually I don't like having to control aiming functions with anything but regular controls, but I like the Gyroscope function.

Nope. The Gyro Scope can go fuck itself.

In fact, its funny you bring up Wind Waker HD as your example of my you like it, because its my example for why I hate it. I was trying to aim the grappling hook in the first dungeon and couldn't figure out why the fuck it looked like Link was having an epileptic seizure. It was until a few frustrating minutes later that I checked the back of the box and noticed the blurb about gyroscope controls.

They were shut off promptly after.

This. I almost laughed when Star Fox 643D asked me if I wanted to wave my 3DS wildly about for half an hour. My arms would fall off.

I was trying to get past a drinking game in Watch_Dawgs (the rage inducing one in Pawnee)and neither stick would respond. I almost lost it thinking I had to use the inaccurate sixaxis until I realized the charger cable was half-way out, messing with the connection :p

Same here; 3DS and Wii U. I used a bit of the gyroscope in Wind Waker HD and, the AR games on the 3DS but if I can turn them off, they're getting turned off. I strongly prefer controlling my games with control sticks/pads.

I do. I use it as a steering wheel in Mario Kart and, while I haven't done it recently I used it in Ocarina of Time for aiming.
