I was just on Wikipedia and it said that the English Wikipedia will black out in protest of SOPA. Here's the link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SOPA_initiative
There is a way to still get info from wikipediaMr.Mattress said:Don't worry guys, they're gonna protest PIPA now. I support Wikipedia doing this, but boy, will I be lacking info for 24 hours...
Obama also said he'd veto the NDAA, still signed itMortai Gravesend said:Azure-Supernova said:I thought the whole SOPA thing was already sorted?Obama said he'd veto it and it's been shelved indefinitely. Doesn't mean that they outright got rid of it.Nouw said:From what I've been reading on the Escapist, they're a bit too late. It's good that they're taking action though. It shows that they care.
You think it would be better to do nothing?Cid SilverWing said:Not going to make a drop of fucking difference. You watch.
Thank God, now I can stay in college. (I would hate to have to use something like EbscoHost...)DVS BSTrD said:I guess I'll just have to use the rest of the internet to get my information for awhile.

Ich bin in berliner.download and use Google chrome, go to wikipedia.org and click on deutsch or even just go to de.wikipedia.org. After a second there should be something on the top of your screen say that do you want to translate this page and just say yes. Now you have access to Wikipedia just with a minor inconvenience having to constantly translate and have some things untranslatable.
SOPA is sorted, but if you look at the banner it says SOPA and PIPA, which is still up for grabs. The infection isn't dead yet, PIPA hasn't been overruled by Congress.Azure-Supernova said:I thought the whole SOPA thing was already sorted?
And as they state in their message on the wikipedia site, they feel SOPA and PIPA are merely symptoms of a desire by current legislators around the world to tighten regulations regarding the internet and strip away internet freedom. I agree with them in that regard. SOPA may have gone away for now, but it will almost inevitably come back in some form or another before too long, and in more places than just the US. This just helps to raise awareness before the fight becomes impossible to win.nsqared said:SOPA is sorted, but if you look at the banner it says SOPA and PIPA, which is still up for grabs. Of course, SOPA has already been shelved, protesting it now isn't going to do a lot.Cid SilverWing said:Not going to make a drop of fucking difference. You watch.
