no not really, Thane was the least memorable team member
he was very cool, but when ever I did the after mission whole party chat
I'd always forget to talk to Thane before moving on for some reason
he was by no means the worst character. Miranda takes that cake, than Samara, then Jacob, than Kasumi and Zaeed, (only because you couldn't talk to them) then Thane then Grunt, Legion, Jack, Tali, Garrus

another reason is that I never used the Pull attack, it always left me surrounded by the floating enemies i forgot to kill before they hit the ground, so Jacob and Thane never got any play time because of that
he's not bad, just not memorable
and very hard to kill in the last mission, in the play-through where I tried to kill everyone off he was the last one standing, he wasn't even loyal, weird

And if you follow the Cerberus Daily News.... well this one gives me hope for his health =] http://www.cerberusdailynews.com/?p=232
How have I never learnt of this wonderful thing before? I'm a pretty big fan of the ME universe, so thank you very much for linking it. I am now going to waste quite a few hours bingeing on the archive until I'm up to date.

I can just tell this is going to be a productive day...

Thane, Mordin, and Miranda were my favorites of ME2. Thane is in terrible health. Mordin has a short lifespan. Miranda... is actually the character that's most likely to live through the suicide mission and is likely going to play a big part in ME3.

But yeah, I really hope BioWare doesn't just kill him off. If they do something like that, they're likely to do something like that with ALL of the characters just so they don't have to let any of them be squad members again. I really hope that doesn't happen, it would be stupid.

I found him to be a self obsessed, ignorant, iresponsible loser and one of the most hateable characters in anything I have ever seen, heard or played.

No I will not miss him.

No I am not a troll.

I'm hoping that if thane dies it will be like half way through me3, something that has meaning not just, thane died between. so then he would only get a slight mention in me3.

But in all seriousness, I didn't get too attached to his character. He just didn't pique my interest in any way at all, even though his loyalty mission was a lovely break from the "go here, kill this" routine.

I honestly didn't think he was all that interesting. Plus I never used him on me team, except for his loyalty mission. He's inferior to Legion, Legion was by far the coolest character introduced in Mass Effect 2, I mean, he's a robot... Who does the robot! What more could you want in a character?

Also, Garrus is still the coolest character in the entire Mass Effect franchise, with Wrex coming in close second.

Oh, one last thing, I'm sick of that whole "Repentant, spiritual assassin with a heart of gold" archetype, probably the reason I didn't like Thane.

For those of you who like him, bear in mind that there is nothing stopping Bioware from just writing his terminal illness away. "Oh hey, Mordin developed a cure. Awesome!"
If BioWare has any respect for their story they won't do that. That would be a blatant retcon of Mass Effect 2. This illness is a major problem, and Hanar scientists have been working on finding a cure for years. Mordin suddenly conjuring up a cure would make no damn sense, even if he is incredibly smart.

But you gotta admit it was pretty cool how he disappeared after that prayer he said

Okay, he was SORT of cool, only because he was so damn good at his job. But his story was just too sappy. I'd rank him above Samara, at the very least.

Mordin was the best character, closely followed by Garrus, Miranda and Zaeed.

While I will miss him, his funeral might make something interesting in Mass Effect 3.

"EDI: Shepard, you need to change into your black and white armor before you go to Thanes funeral."
But Shepard wants to wear his pink and yellow armor!!!

I actually would like him out of the party.

Now, hear me out on this before spamming "don't hate on thane!"

His back story is over. It's done. There's nothing left to talk to him about. I would rather have

some new characters than stick with the old party.

Thane was how I always wanted my Shepard to be, no matter what options I choose he either comes accross as a childish psychopath or a childish goody-goody. Thane was the right mixture of badarse and class

I wasent dead kean on thane in ME2 he was ok. Except for my first 2 times he died lol.

I think in the whole mass effect universe was the illusive man. I hope they don't ruin it like him being controlled by the reapers or die.

I won't miss Thane because he survived in all of my profiles.
Yea but dude his has his sickness so even if he survived the suicide mission then he is still in big trouble!
You're right I forgot about that. I guess I just expect some deus ex machina to happen and Thane will be ok. Then again this is Bioware and they care nothing for my feelings.

Thane was interesting when you first meet him, but the whole "cancer patient" / "strained relationship with his son" bit kind of dragged on for me. I ended up losing sympathy for character over time as these two facets were constantly shoved in my face with all the 'woe me' drama whenever i spoke to him, that i just sort of forgot about him on the ship. It'd help if he had a bit of a quirky personality now and then, at least some light comic relief to help the player deal with the heavy stuff in a way that doesn't make it feel forceful.

Well they did write in a way for Tali to get out of her suit. The answer was to look it up on the internet. So I wouldn't put it past them.

OT: I liked his character as well. I liked his loyalty mission the most out of everyone's.

I hate to say it, I want him to die. It'd add a whole lot of psychological stress on the Normandy, AND we might get his son, who is Woobie-status already.
