Just because you don't like some other FPS games doesn't somehow equate to FPS being dead/dying.
not saying FPS genre is completely dying but there are some games which harm FPS genre like COD, halo, BF etc
i remember how overrated COD4 was yet it was highly praised game.
Eh I dunno, harm sounds like another word you shouldn't throw in, I disliked the last few CODs, I stopped at the first BLOPS and that was it and I stopped at BF3 back in 2011 (Until EA gave me 3 for free recently) because there's only so much FPS I can play before I become bored, now I don't think disliking those I missed on were harmful, they just weren't doing things in a way that I'd like them too but then there was PS2 and that entertained me for a while before again I became bored, now it's apparently going to PS4 means PS users have something new to try and that game has iron sights because they actually need them to aim.
Thing that was fun about DOOM was shooting like a madman without the need for aiming down sights or irons, just shoot the gun and away you go but I don't think for a second that every FPS should be like DOOM, that would put of so many people and we shouldn't be into driving people away.
I didn't mind MW that much, the nuke scene was cool for a while but these days I think it's more a setting problem for FPS's that tend to focus on dem dirty terrorists or evil Russians/Chinese/Koreans, basically America/Eu's worst enemies from historical standpoints, I can't say we have many an FPS where the USA/UK and other EU countries are the bad guys.
But yeah my bottom line is I'd say they aren't really as harmful as you'd think, if everything became akin to DOOM then you'd automatically have another crowd saying games like DOOM are "harmful" and if it works your way you can imagine it should for them equally.
Not trying to say you're wrong but your choice of words are making it sound drastic a little.
