Come back to what? Getting their asses curb-stomped by the PS2 6-to-1 or by the Wii with a 20% sales margin?
Back to making another successful console.Johnny Novgorod said:Come back to what? Getting their asses curb-stomped by the PS2 6-to-1 or by the Wii with a 20% sales margin?
If their idea of success is second or third place, then they're already pretty successful.BabyfartsMcgeezaks said:Back to making another successful console.Johnny Novgorod said:Come back to what? Getting their asses curb-stomped by the PS2 6-to-1 or by the Wii with a 20% sales margin?

I suspect they'll aim for either better streaming features or integrate loot boxes into the console itself.hanselthecaretaker said:We should get a good idea by E3 as for what to expect. The real interesting thing will not be how powerful the next Xbox is (slightly better graphics are a given), but instead what features it will have that people actually want.
Guessing full backwards compatibility will be a good start, but not sure what direction they?ll go from there. If they announce it won?t have a disc drive then they will have preemptively lost again.
I don't really get how Sony became so arrogant with PS3. They pushed both Blu-ray and HDs, which consoles needed, at least the HDs while DVD probably could've lasted one more gen. The cell processor was probably more costly than it needed to be. Adding in backwards compatibility, which is GOOD, also upped the price as well. The only thing bad about the PS3 was really the price, no bad feature was really being pushed on the consumer (like say the Kinect or motion controls). Sony is easily the most consumer friendly of the Big 3 (Microsoft, Nintendo) and it ain't even close and is possibly even the best publisher as well.Hades said:I see arrogant Sony and losing Microsoft reverting to their PS3 and 360 mindset until its time for Microsoft to self destruct again and Sony to learn from their mistake.
Yeah, but making people feel insecure about their financial situation by releasing an expensive product is a no-no, even if people would have saved money in other areas by buying a PS3 ( online was free, no proprietary HDDs ).Phoenixmgs said:I don't really get how Sony became so arrogant with PS3. If that is the worst or most arrogant Sony ever gets, then they are easily the best out of the big 3 and it ain't even close. PS3 gen Nintendo forced motion controls and also delayed Zelda just to get it on the Wii after delaying it forever on the Gamecube and released the Gamecube version AFTER the Wii version, and Microsoft knowingly released a console they knew would break. Thus Sony being arrogant is better than, I guess, Nintendo and Microsoft not being arrogant IMO. Plus, I doubt Sony or any company is going to release a console so expensive due to x86 now being much much more viable now that it was any generation previous.bluegate said:Yeah, but making people feel insecure about their financial situation by releasing an expensive product is a no-no, even if people would have saved money in other areas by buying a PS3 ( online was free, no proprietary HDDs ).
Basically this. They really shot off their own dick when they decided to make every Xbone game playable on the PC. While it ruined their chances to make the Xbone itself a big hit, it probably saved a lot of the games because it gave the games to a bigger audience. Consider how many gaming PC's and Xbones combined their are and you have a pretty decent market share. I doubt any of the Xbox exclusives would have survived without that supplimental PC support.votemarvel said:Part of Microsoft's problem is that they are also competing with themselves. Every Xbox exclusive that I would want is also available on my PC, so I look at my Xbox One and wonder why I bought it when a PS4 would have been a far better choice for a companion console.
As much as I hate to say it if Microsoft want to make a comeback in the next generation of consoles they need to start by keeping their games exclusive to the console again. As it is there is little reason to buy an Xbox One if you have a PC.
Originally it was Gates? idea I think to put a Microsoft/Windows device in every living room, and the Xbox was the vehicle for that idea. They are still basically on track with that goal but the problem is their competition is simply offering better entertainment and value, which is the main point of said device.votemarvel said:Part of Microsoft's problem is that they are also competing with themselves. As a consumer, I have to ask, does a system have enough of the games I want and the power (and best controller) to impress me and have fun. The power is a bonus.Squilookle said:It has always been, and -will- always be the case with games being more important than the console's raw power.
