Vita and Wii U are no where near ready to hit the shelves so its dumb to even speculate that Microsoft will not release another console.

Honestly the whole voice recognition thing is just as much as a gimmick as the motion controller.Sure some will think its cool but your going to be alone at home talking to your games now. Also I wonder how well it will work at a gaming party with more then just one person talking.

What pisses me off the most is that they are making developers use that gimmick in their games. It looked to me that they made Fable into a rail shooter. Also if you seen that demo of Future Solider with the dude using hand motions to take the gun apart it could be done just as fast with a controller.

I don't see the point of Nintendo releasing a new console if where are just going to be playing the same old Mario and Zelda games on it just with newer graphics.

Of course they will.
I'm more curious of what Microsoft will do with their next console.
Obviously all three companies are pushing for the casual gamer scene, so will Microsoft make a system for families? or will they make a badass console for the hardcore gamer scene?
We'll see.

You do realize that they have been the best selling console for 11 out of the last 12 month, best selling console of this year, that the Kinect outsold the move almost 2 to 1, that they have the best online multiplayer, and have DLC first from alot of the major companies and didn't just have the literally worst PR event in the history of video games right? RIGHT?

Yea I don't see the whole PS3 rising in popularity over microsoft thing, especially considering the whole fiasco behind the PSN and that giant plunge their stock took.
Actually even during the fiasco, so far the ps3 is selling better then last year, even during the down time it was selling well.

Yes, they'll survive. But I don't think we'll be seeing another Microsoft console anytime soon. Plus, they have the best online service, and no, their exclusives are not dwindling.
That's okay we don't have to see a new console from either Microsoft or Sony, because, as s fan of Nintendo as you'll ever find, Nintendo is putting a lot of effort into dazzling up the WiiU so people will forget they're trying to play catch up. I see the current generation going for at least another four years. If only because graphical power V. Cost is leveling out on the graph side of things.
I agree, the current generation of consoles is surely going to last quite a while. Also, what is the WiiU? I haven't read anything about it yet.

The 360 is doing great. Sold well since launch and has a large fanbase. I don't think they're getting "less" exclusives or at least not in a real console ruining concentration like the PS3 had at launch.
And honestly unless Sony really gets there shit together and drops a next gen console which is affordable at launch (and will actually net them any money) with decent exclusives (much more important for a console that has touted it's incredible power to have exclusives that make use of it) Microsoft are likely to sweep the "core" section of gamers again due to an extreme lack of competition.

That's just my opinion but I really don't see how microsoft is in any danger of not taking part in another console generation.

I don't think they'll die out...it's extremely difficult for such a large company to collapse.

Their E3 showing was rather uninspiring, though.

...Although, I do kind of wish Xbox Live Gold was free, but hey, pigs will fly, amiright? I wonder if Microsoft would become more popular overall if they did make it a free service.
But then they wouldn't be making money.
They won't die they have their hands in two things after all.
I would be more worried about Sony OP.

EDIT- OBVIOUSLY MICROSOFT WILL NOT DIE. I simply mean that they will cease to make consoles. I didn't think I honestly needed to say that.
OF COURSE you needed to say that.

Microsoft is a company that deliberately releases inferior products at a loss in order to drive their competitors out of business.

I remember a time when Netscape was the best browser.
IE came along, it wasn't as good, but it was bundled free and installed automatically so people couldn't be arsed buying Netscape.

And that's how Microsoft treats the console market, too.
Sure, they care about making money, but they care about their competitors making less money more.
I can't argue with that business model. It's a great way of making profit and investing in the future.
The stakes are high: the gaming industry is growing to the likes of Hollywood.

I don't think this is so much of a "Will Microsoft Survive?" thing, as it is a "Will Microsoft bother to put more money into this Medium?" thing...
The answer's probably yes...
No one's been able to stop them, and they won't, it'll just be a bumpier, more annoying-to-hear-about ride...yeah...PS3 fan here by the way...

So, in your mind, one bad E3 showing equals doom for the gaming branch of a multi-billion dollar corporation? Just like that whole PSN hack meant the doom of Sony, or the recent major stock drop of Nintendo, brought on because of their E3 show, means their end, amirite?

Okay, trying to take OP seriously now, ofcourse they will. Games like Halo and Gears still sell consoles, believe it or not, they are riding kinect a bit hard, but I'd say that's better than them releasing a massive peripheral and not supporting it. In fact, the xbox 361 will probably have built in kinect and what have you.

You seem to be basing your entire theory on there being few non-kinect exclusives, and that just doesn't make sense, especially because the kinect sold really well, and it's exclusives should be counted. And as they have shown with the 360 slim they've gotten a lot better at making consoles over the years, too. It has a damn small failure rate, it's a lot more silent than the other 360s, and it has built in wi-fi. The nexbox will probably have all that, too, and may even have blu-ray support.

Only time will tell, but do not be naive enough to think that one poor E3 showing = imminent shutdown of Microsoft's gaming branch just because of few non-kinect exclusives.

you know the Xbox 360 is the only home console ever to have increasing sales during every year of its existence, and that the Kinect, despite being fucking ridiculous and kiddie, has sold over 10 million units already... i dont think i even need to mention the fact that they just announced that Halo, their flagship series, is getting a whole new trilogy (not to mention an HD version of the first game).

i think MS will be just fine.

although i know there is no need to worry about any of the big 3, Nintendo seems to be in the worst shape (imo). all theyve been doing for the past 5 or so years is regurgitate the same game series year after year after year.

last couple of years: hey were going to come out with remakes/reboots of Super Mario, Donkey Kong, and even Kirby for the Wii!

now: hey, were going to do the same exact thing weve been doing for the past couple of years, but with the 3DS!

seriously, i bet would most people would be hard-pressed to be able to come up with just one or two NEW game series' for the Wii that managed to gain enough popularity for at least one sequel. all i can come up with is like De Blob...

and i cant think of a single game that Nintendo has in the works that doesnt have anything to do with Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Metroid, Star Fox, Pokemon, or any other Nintendo-owned series that has been around for over 12-20 something years.

To me Microsoft filled the void left by Sega but now also fills the same role that they had. What I mean is that I believe they will make some decent consoles, but won't be able to take down all of their competitors and after maybe four pretty decent consoles they will drop out of the console wars (if it still be called a war). Please keep in mind this is only my opinion of what may happen.

You do know the Kinect has sold well right? that's the reason their focusing on it. I think parents might buy an xbox with the elmo game for their kids. And personally I lolve the youtube thing. but hey.. Third party is where its at anyway XD

I think they'll stay in the console race.

Gaming right, now at least with major publishers, feels a little stagnant.
Maybe it's cause I've played so many but I think developers constantly try to appeal to larger and larger audience.

Trying to please everyone will leave you pleasing no one.

Why wouldn't they? The Kinect brought them a huge boost of sales and they are backed by the entire Windows segment of the company. Wasn't the Xbox division thinking of breaking away from the rest of Microsoft since it was so much more profitable?

They won't use blu-ray because its a Sony product and game prices will increase due to the price of blu-ray discs. The only reason Sony can keep the prices down is because they make the discs. and if they catch wind of Sony making a new console they'll have a new console in the works.
Also, X-Box has a much larger online base so it won't be disappearing any time soon.

Sorry to go off topic here (would just edit this into my last post, but for some god forsaken reason I can't highlight to copy your quote..), but you do realize that, as a PS3 fan, you have a lot to lose by Sony losing major competition, right? The three companies competing with each other keeps their prices honest, and I sincerely doubt that Sony would sell PS3's at a lose if the 360 didn't exist.

That, and you're just being a bit of a jerk to 360 owners, but I guess that's the whole point of console fanboyism. Just thought I would point out how pointless and downright idiotic the whole idea of it is, because I felt like it.

Nintendo has more than Sony and Microsoft combined it's just the lot of it is really old and needs to be revived.
Did you honestly know who Icarus was before brawl or Ness before smash brothers.
They are MUCH older than that.
The NES alone has 799 games I doubt that the majority of people know the potential of solid AA to AAA games that sleeps waiting to be revived.
