MMO's don't keep PC gaming going. They are a big part but not that big.Jeronus said:As long as WoW and other MMOs exist, PC gaming won't ever die.
The all in one would mean that the consoles no longer exist either as gaming would just be a feature rather than being the whole purpose of the device.0p3rati0n said:As technology evolves computer companies look like they are moving towards these All-In-One computers. Mac with their iMac just needs to get rid of the keyboard and mouse. I think Dell makes some. Other companies I haven't looked up. With the progression of touch screen companies want to use that as much as possible. Now do you think PC gaming much be wiped from existance? And that we would all be forced to by future generation consoles if we want to game?! I'd find it pretty frustrating to play Call of Duty on a touch screen.
Oh heres an answer for those of you that might say "buy a keyboard and mouse." So here's an answer computer companies are trying to get rid of that.
You answered your own question right there. If anything, consoles will become extinct. The trend in console design is to expand their functionality. Consoles are becoming more and more like PCs. They are no longer just platforms for games, they are also include multimedia playback, web connectivity (both for gaming and otherwise), social interaction, etc. Eventually, computers and consoles are likely to merge into something more akin to a PC than a traditional console.0p3rati0n said:As technology evolves computer companies look like they are moving towards these All-In-One computers.
I suppose there might be one or two things about the concept that seem the same on the surface. This idea is totally different though.Keepitclean said:isnt that pretty much what game consoles are?More Fun To Compute said:They could call it a "games terminal." Companies could make their own types of terminals and make games that only work on them. They could tempt other companies to make games for it with promises that marketing costs will be shared.Keepitclean said:or maybe a new type of computer will emerge that are factory built for gaming and have otherthings avalable on them?
It seems like an idea that could work for a small amount of people but it is a bit weak sauce compared to a proper computer system. I don't think it would catch on. Consumers are too smart to be so easily manipulated by marketing messages.
No it won't. PC gaming should die out any year now.hubertw47 said:Console gaming will die before PC gaming.
