So my dear friends and fellow gamers. I just read the new recently and insider from valve pretty much confirmed that Half life 3 doesnot exist and will never release.

http://www.pcgamer.com/half-life-3-...source=facebook&utm_campaign=buffer_pcgamerfb

But after reading that. One thing comes to my mind while watching new Prey footage. it may resemble system shock but to me its giving me a Half life Vibe too.

Similar style in opening where you dont have any guns but crowbar/wrench. same type of enemies like headcrabs you encounter, solve puzzle. the difference is Prey has RPG elements too.

The way I see. Prey is mix of System shock, Dishonored and Half life. but its no surprise because Arkane has people who work on valve and looking glass studio too. It really remind me of Half life in many ways.

I really hope game turn out something special and will fix the thing we have been waiting for never released Half life 3.

what do you think?

When people talk about Half-Life 3, most sentiments seem to be based on the cliffhanger and story we'll never see. It isn't as common to lament the lack of its gameplay.

So, no, however good Prey may be, it can't fill in the Half-Life 3 gap for me. Though fortunately that isn't too big a gap in my life, so there is that.

Will Prey 2 tell me what happened to Gordon and Alyx after Eli got poked in the head?

If the answer is no, then no, Prey 2 will not fill in the gap of HL3.

No, but fanfiction might!

Hint - it involves the reproductive field going down and rejuvinating the human race. ^_^

I literally just posted this response in the Wild West forum but damn it, your response is too perfect for me to not do it again...

Because no matter how you slice it, Prey is not Half-Life.
It's not even a Prey sequel. The whole fighting aliens with Native American spirit powers was goofy as hell but it was also the thing that made the game stand out at all.

but the game was mediocre and has no challange at all because you cant die in that game.

New Prey is neither like old prey or cancelled prey 2 instead its immersive sim like system shock.

New Prey looks much more interesting than mediocre first prey or far cry in space bounty hunter game that cancelled prey 2 was.

...what?

Okay, yeah, there is a slight resemblence between enemy design, but a wrench is not a crowbar, and the inside of a dark, metal contruct is not the brighter, open area level design that Half Life was heading towards.

I fail to see how this is anything like Half Life. I would have mistaken this for another Bioshock long before I would have thought it could fill the void for Half Life.

If you mean well in hoping Half Life fans could have something that would make them just as happy as a Half Life 3, I can appreciate that sentiment, but a game being in first person with shadowy crab enemies does not make a game like Half Life.

It's a worthless unconfirmed report that shouldn't have been published. They even admitted themselves that it should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm gonna remember all your naysaying when Half-Life 3 is revealed.
LOL come on my friend. its 2017 and people still believe Half life 3 is in development.

you guys said same thing in 2011 when we were on GT. back in 2011 i used to believe half life 3 can be real but i also feel it may not release.

Now Valve do not make games anymore. thier last game was released in 2011.

You posit that Prey will fill the gap the non-existant Half-Life 3 leaves(and I'm with you on it not existing), which is a very bold statement, and you base this solely on the fact that you start out with a wrench.

B-Cell, sometimes your excitement is cute, like a puppy, but sometimes it's more like a really really in a kinda-making-us-uncomfortable kind of way dumb puppy.

Actually, you know what game also had a wrench? BioShock.

That means this game will bridge the gap to BioShock 3. The true successor to System Shock.

And that's objective fact.

So does Team Fortress 2 if you pick the engineer. This is his story.

It could, theoretically. But then so could a litre and a half of vodka and an intravenous morphine drip, temporarily. People tend to get a bit judgy with the latter though, especially if it's their vodka and morphine drip you procure. Best to play it safe and invite yourself to somebody else's place who bought the game to try it out. Doesn't even matter if you know them, just say I sent you. It'll probably work itself out somehow. Return to me with results if you do, I'm collecting data for the records.

This is kinda what bothers me. At this point, Prey isn't even a brand or anything. Why even associate this new game with it? It's not like there was a trilogy of Prey games nor is it a long beloved franchise. It was just an okay game with a rather overhyped sequel that never came to be.

I'm with you people. Prey isn't half-life, and yes Prey (2?) isn't even Prey. I dunno what it is. Just another sci-fi thing. It definitely looks more System/Bioshock to me than anything else, with Dishonored elements thrown in, even some from the Darkness. Enemies look pretty boring, as do their attack patterns. One thing that set Half-life, even the first game apart was it's AI. HL2 was also ground breaking in it's graphics and physics for it's time, many of which are still not matched in today's games.

I'd say it doesn't fill the gap at all, not that there's a gap to begin with, after all those years if they even announced it I'd be fairly lukewarm and skeptical about the whole thing, after the jokes died down.
