Most of the things promised would take a lot of effort to do. It's quite possible that no-one at Hello Games actually knows how to implement them. I doubt Sony is trying to shut him up. Sony is the only real hope for the game, as they have the resources to turn it into the game that was promised, and have some incentive to do it (at least on the PS4). Though they probably won't.

Constructing an understatement 101 everyone.

Probably not. Just from what I've seen of him in those compilation "lie" videos, the dude seems like a weasel. The press is bad enough right now and I don't think Murray or Hello Games want to even approach that shit storm other than to hastily implement some fixes and do damage control. The details of this game's development will come out in a lengthy interview and research article in a few years time similar to that really interesting piece about Lionhead.

When he announces a sequel he'll talk about how this time everything promised will come true.

Assuming he hasn't popped up somewhere other then Twitter, its still only been 20 days since he last said anything. Saying they were working on technical issues before adding or improving content. Which they've popped up 2 or 3 patches since, so seems like they're keeping busy.

Its not like engaging with the levels of internet toxicity (warranted or not) has really done anything positive for developers or other personalities in these situations. I can't really say I'm surprised he's not popping up to have a dialogue.

Why stir the pot of anger when he can just sit back on a couch made of money sipping hot liquid money from a mug of money?

I mean, what would you do?

If he's smart, that is what he'll do: quietly lean back, watch the cash roll in and let sleeping dogs lie.

Give it a few more months and the greater majority of people will have forgotten all about the controversies and criticisms or found some new game to gangpile on. Maybe then he could start making comments again, but it'd still smarter to keep silent lest he stir things up again. He hasn't built up enough credit to sort of get away with it like some other notable devs known for making promises and not keeping them.

Over the next year they'll have to address the various broken promises or everyone's gonna just consider them a mockery in the future. Any new game they announce will just get swamped in negativity on pure principle.

I mean shit where would you even start? If getting a turn around on this at all is possible that is a job for an actual qualified PR guy not some overpromising developer lol.

Maybe hes hoping to ride some good will after his promised content patchs with freighters and stuff come out to start talking or just looking at the internet every day and going 'holy shit Im scared'

Pretty much this. Dealing with a storm of internet anger and 'adressing the criticisms' would probably just end up drawing more attention, nasty comments, and worse his way. I wouldn't want to deal with that. There also isn't much he can say or do at this point to make things better. No man sky is what it is, and isn't what it was made out to be. Nothing will change that at this point. At best he could apologise for misleading people. Besides that the wisest thing for him to do is to keep silent, use the boatload of cash he made to invest in a new game and spend it on himself. (I assume that, as an important person in a small team, he got a good share of the millions made) You know, go on an expensive holiday with his wife or girlfriend, pay off his mortgage, save it up for retirement, whatever. Then, when his next project comes around, let somebody else do the PR.

He can't hear the criticism over the sound of how much money he's making.
