Let's have a lookse here in my crystal ball? Hmm, I seem to have a problem. I don't seem to have a crystal ball. I guess we'll just have to watch the movie ourselves and form our own opinions.
thankyou.
I have faith in chris nolan. He hasn't failed me so far for his version of the batman universe.
directly OT: I think nolan rises to the challenge, he very well may out-do himself just because it's such a difficult goal to achieve, "imho"

It's going to be a good movie, probably even a great movie. Better than The Dark Knight? Who cares. When you hit the level of quality that the first two films in the trilogy were at, "better" is completely a matter of opinion, and frankly you'd have to be poking at such minor differences in quality that it doesn't matter worth a crap. Since this movie is being made by the same people who made the last two[footnote]so no Tim Burton handing the reigns over to Joel Schumaker, or Ridley Scott handing the reigns off to James Cameron who handed them over to David Fincher and then to Jean-Pierre Jeunet, whoever the hell they are[/footnote], I see no reason to expect a huge difference in quality. The series has been consistently good so far.

KILL WITH FIRE!

*ahem*

Sorry, I loved The Avengers, buuuuut..... I doubt it will be as great as Dark Knight Rises, don't get me wrong, Avengers is pinnacle of awsomeness, but Dark Knight Rises is the pinnacle of more awsome awsomeness +1.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be good, maybe not perfect, but still good.

I have no doubt it will be a good movie, and personally I'm really looking forward to it.Heath Ledger was just so mesmerizing as the Joker I don't see how you can follow a performance like that.

I honestly believe Nolan will top TDK. I've said this in a few threads already but people got so hung up on how awesome the Joker was that they didn't really pay attention to the underlying themes of the movie. If you're going in there expecting crazy shit to happen you'll likely be disappointed, but if you go in there and really pay attention then you likely won't be disappointed.

I'm one of the few who honestly prefers BB to TDK. There's no doubt that TDK had more technical finesse, but I really liked the heavy focus on Bruce's development into Batman in BB. In particular that scene where Rachel is gassed and he disregards everything he'd learned and all his morality - like dropping any form of subtlety, and potentially killing people multiple times - was just great.

Anyway the point I'm getting at is that TDKR looks like it's getting back to that more personal feeling so I'll probably love it.

Also this isn't really related but I watched Inception the other night. Is it just me or do you hear the spinning top fall over right as the credits music is starting up?

Im just sad with the finality and the enemy choices, catwoman/bane. No nolan riddler makes me sad. but I guess that guy in the dark knight who knew batman id was like riddler, he was even a redhead.
Dude, that reminds me of the rumors floating around before the movie's details were released. People started talking about David Tennant playing the Riddler.

David Tennant. As the Riddler.

Can we just hire Nolan to make another film after this for the sole purpose of that actually happening?
You utter bastard.
Now I have to go for the rest of my life wondering what it would have been like if David Tennant had played the Riddler.
My life will forever be incomplete...
Actually I remember why he didn't take the role. He didn't upgrade so I deleted him.
OK, absolutely no idea what that means...

I myself was surprised with the casting of Leslie Nielson in a comic relief role myself, but I guess Nolan knows what he's doing; I mean, why else would he get to work with Stanley Kubrick as the cinematographer?

Ok, i get that its a reference to the Cybermen, with David Tennant being the tenth doctor and all.

Still not sure how the quote is connected to the conversation is all. :p

At this point I can say I will watch it and likely won't be disappointed.

I wish Nolan wouldn't ride that "realism" fetish he's got going there so hard... I think all of the films - and therefor the next one - could be a bit more interesting if they leaned towards the Arkham Video Game interpretation of the setting and characters without sacrificing mood and tone.

So long as Bane does what he's supposed to, I think it will be good. Batman must have his will broken beyond belief.

The ONLY way I see it is if its focused on the breaking of the bat story arc which it does seem to be, but theres sooo many ways that it could go wrong.
Agree with this. It does look to be going down that road and I'm hoping it does.

It costs over £7 to see a film at the cinema where I live. That is money that could be spent on games, drink, drugs, steak or yogurt dunks (though those are unnecessary in all this rain) so it is a big decision for a po fellow like me.

I will be going to see TDKR though because I belive.

I think it will be good. The problem I think it will have is that people will immediatly dismiss is it because the bad guy "isn't as good as teh joker !!!!! ". Ledger's Death was used a lot for advertising, this one doesn't have that.

From what I've seen it looks like it will be a decent flick.

I'm not expecting the same lighting in a bottle success of TDK but it looks to be at least as good as Batman Begins.

I doubt any one is actually expecting another performance like that.

I am expecting it to be good. I won't know until I actually see it, obviously, but given the track record of thew other films in the series, I shouldn't be disappointed.
