Will there ever be a Zelda game better than Ocarina of Time?

It's called the wind waker, also, twilight princess. Both those games had way better stories then OOT. However people don't think they're as good simply because they weren't as revolutionary for their time. OOT brought LoZ to the new generation, but wind waker and twilight princess did everything else better.

I was going to post this word for word.

Though I like it for a different reason then most: I like how it's darker, and the whole game is basically one huge mind screw and consiperacy theory-O-matic.

Oh Ho Ho Ho Julian you mind thief, took the exact wording out of my head.
That being said Wind Waker's also a great one too, personally I think OoT is the 7th best Zelda game. Which doesn't mean the game doesn't kick ass and eat nails. But I just didn't enjoy it as much.

This and Wind Waker, it mostly just nostalgia that gives OOT its high throne OOT is a good game but Majoras Mask is awesome, fun and with its dark tone really gives its a nice touch. And Wind Waker has a full complete story and a line of Characters with personalty and motivations other than ITS YOUR DESTINY or trying to shut up a fairy.

Well I played TP before OOT, and I think OOT kick it's arsehole from here to right over there, the position of those places are down to you, either way it still kicks its arse.

Ocarina will always be the benchmark, in the same way that any 3D Mario game is now compared to Mario 64. I think because it's such an unreasonably high standard to meet, people will be slightly too harsh on all subsequent Zeldas rather than suffer the culture shock of having a new 'Best Game Ever'.

That said, I do still think it is the best ever, at least for now. The level design is just masterful and the fact that the worst thing even the sternest hater can think up to say about it is that Navi is slightly annoying (and even that's a stretch considering she only yelps HEY! maybe once every half an hour if you wander about aimlessly for a while) speaks volumes about its quality.

EDIT: Thinking about it, choosing between OoT and Majora's is like choosing between two hypothetical children that I hypothetically love a hypothetical lot.

I love how everyone who thinks Majora is better has little to no reasoning, but all the other games have long drawn out explanations as to why it was better. Majora was out of place in the Zelda universe and the basic gimmick of the story got old so fast it isn't even funny... Having played every Zelda game from N64 back as near to release as possible (I wasn't alive when the first 2 came out), I can say that I do not even see a slight comparison between OOT and Majora in terms of which is better. Every single person I know would say OOT hands down, and maybe Twilight Princess if they played it.

OOT was revolutionary and Majora was the rushed sequel to capitalize on the engine.

Edit: All of you kids screaming "nostalgia" remind me of the people who think Pokemon is still a good IP...

Innovation is so extremely important in game design and that was where OOT succeeds and the recent games fail. Pokemon is so much worse with their remaking the same game over and over and over, but that's a different story.

Love what you said, agree with most of it.
I need to point out one error with the above though.

Majora's Mask is what would be referred to these days as an expansion or even DLC, not a full game.

Because that is all it is, a side quest based off the Happy Mask sub-plot in OoT.
Same engine, recycled models, story weaker than a wet blanket and one of the most irritating inventories I have seen in a Zelda.

Also, was there any other mention of the character the game is named after besides in the intro?

Edit: Also, wtf is Termina? Was it really necessary to have the game take place outside of Hyrule?

Personally I never really liked Ocarina of time, but I absolutely loved Windwaker and I enjoyed Twilight Princess so..yes, there will be LoZ games better than Ocarina of Time.

I don't think Skyward Sword will be one of them but that's mainly because I hate Wii waggling as an integral game mechanic.

Oh please tell me you're joking...

You're not joking are you.

*Head-desk*

Ocarina is superior in so many ways I shudder to even think about it.

And yet agian, Julian ninja'd someone on this thread. Even though I haven't finished it yet, (due to mostly unrelated reasons) I think it's better than OoT. Same goes for Wind waker and Twilight Princess.

Majora's Mask was on par with Ocarina of Time. It had many points that were better then OoT. Really I want to say it was better. But the Oot have this whole epic feel that Majora's Mask didn't have. Probably because in Oot you travel far across the land and time. Where in Majora's Mask just had a not so epic land to travel and the time was only three days not seven years.

I wish they would make the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask story a trilogy.
