Only if my friends are going, and invite me. Otherwise I can just watch them all at home, in 2D, for free...

Well seeing as I saw two of the prequel trilogy in the theatres when they came out, I'll be passing on those. The original trilogy though? Well, I've only ever really saw them on VHS, unedited as they came out originally, so it would be nice to see the original three on the big screen. I just hope they aren't that different from how i remember them.

I will, hell yeah. Not necessarily because I want to see them in 3d but because I want to see them in the movie theater. I've only seen the prequels in the movie theater and can't wait for the originals. Empire Strikes Back.
I also wouldn't mind re-living the Battle of Coruscant...

I am one of the few people who actually likes the prequels, and i think George Lucas is smart for making all of these re-releases because he knows that people will pay to see them. he doesn't care that a lot of people hate him for doing that, he just cares about money and making star wars the way he likes it. Because, in case you have forgotten, it's his story!! Let him do what he wants! sorry, i got way off track. To answer your original question: yes, i will be seeing the re-releases.

I'm joining the minority on this one: It's true that I could probably find the prequel trilogy on DVD if I checked between enough couch cushions at home and I have the original, unaltered trilogy on VHS (2 copies of each film actually, just different packaging) but I still plan on seeing the movies in theaters when they return. Yes, I know I'll be lining Lucas' pockets with my hard earned cash but you know what? I didn't buy Force Unleashed 2 and feel I can afford to indulge in those 6 films. I only saw Phantom Menace in theaters and I wasn't even alive when the original trilogy hit theaters so I'm not passing up on a chance to see them.

Also, the theater experience is what makes it worth it to me. I love sitting in those large arguably comfortable chairs, staring at a screen big enough to have an orgy on and, being blasted away by the sound on all sides of me. The 3D may suck but I'm holding out hope that they show 2D versions in addition to the 3D (fat chance, I know)

Most of the comments say exactly that. Yes, he'll make a ton of money re-releasing the movies, yes, he's a better marketer than a movie maker.

It's just that there are some people who don't want to give that franchise ruining hack (and I'm talking about Indiana Jones, not SW) the benefit of making money off of themselves. If anyone else wants to see the movies, it's their money.

Because Darth Vader popping out at me while he acts like a whiny ***** is something I want to see, if Lucas is so strapped for cash, why doesn't he just go make another star wars movie, it would probably be shit, but it would certainly gather a bigger crowd than the low population of people who would be able to stand Jar Jar Binks in 3D

No. I don't care for 3D movies, I don't go to the theaters anymore, and I'd rather see the older versions of the movies again than see the newer versions with the stupid changes.

Not in a cinema, no. I havent been to a cinema in ages. Thats partly due to no good films being shown in my local one, partly because I prefer watching films in English and partly because I just cant look back since I got this spanking 1080 monitor. The thought of watching a movie in 240p with the picture spread over a 5 meter screen sends shivers down my spine.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and the rereleases most likely will suck. So thats that.
You guys just got Netflix too, right? That's just one more reason to stay home for movie watching. Yeah, I haven't been to a theater in nearly over a year now, and I don't see me going any time soon. Though I do use the service more for TV shows than movies.

Of course I will. I haven't properly seen any of the StarWars films in the theatre so this is a chance to do so. It's also a chance to get my friends into watching it who haven't gotten a chance to.

NO.

The prequel trilogy and the atrocious "Clone Wars" followups have wiped out whatever enjoyment I had form the franchise.

And 3D-conversion is a lazy cash-grab technique that should be avoided at all costs.
Have you actually ever seen either Clone Wars show? They're both pretty good, but whatever...

Anyway, I'll probably see Phantom Menace in 3D even though it's awful. I have a bit of nostalgia for it even if it's horrid, plus I want it to do well so eventually I'll be able to see the good movies in a theater if they're the mangled new versions...

The only way I'd ever go see a Star Wars rerelease is if it was the original trilogy, before the special editions and before any changes were ever made to them.
Otherwise Lucas can go to hell.

I havent seen the Empire strikes Back or The return of the Jedi so maybe I should hold off for the theater experience? I enjoyed the prequels very much but am not sure how the old ones will hold up.
Once in the while i need to remind myself that the most characteristic feature of the Mankind is its diversity ;)

More seriously : i don't think you'll be very happy. The Holy Trilogy features very shi*y effects in comparison to prequels. Hell, The Trilogy introduced SF effects. :D

I thought cinemas used screens from 2-4K.
Indeed they do. 2k being the normal standard.

Some things are shown in HD also, but most stuff is 2k.
