Pick up a history book and read about what humanity is capable of. War, genocide, death and destruction being amongst the big ones.

Of course, humanity is also capable of a tremendous deal of good as well, I am not so silly as to take the view that we are purely malicious creatures.

However, given the tremendous amount of bad that comes with the good, I don't see how it is possible to conclude that we are perfect. To become perfect, we would have to shed the bad and keep only the good, which will never happen.

I don't even know how to respond to your views on humanity being the master race that owns / deserves the entire universe. It's one of those things where I know in my gut that it's wrong, but it is hard to put into words how or why.
It's the things that I do see we are capable of, when we put aside the truly petty ambitions, that I still have hope. It's quite amazing to be honest what the human mind and spirit are capable of.

Animal adaptation? Well, if it means dragons...wings and a tail (balance is good). Count me in the flying crowd.
Otherwise, the only thing I would really want are fins. I love swimming.

As long as the terms were right, I'd want wings. As long as they were powerful enough to actually allow me to fly around with moderate grace and good speed, without making me so physically exhausted as to cause me to drop after a minute. Also, they would have to be concealable, so I could still blend in.

Other than that, I'd want the cold resistance of an arctic hare, or the senses/grace of a cat.

Wanting the best for humanity is by no means a bad thing, what I find questionable is the part where it comes at the cost of every other living thing. Using animals for humanities gain is a given, as it's just how nature works - the bigger predator feeds off of the smaller, and we are the biggest fish in the pond, metaphorically speaking.

It's just that the way you make it sound is that humanity must bend everything to it's will in order to ascertain it's position as 'top dog', whereas I would rather humanity took what it needed to survive and then left all else to it's own devices. 'Survive' in this sense being a very loose term, not just bare essentials but also not endangering elephants for fancy ivory knife handles and whatnot when other materials that don't purposefully slaughter animals are readily available.

Apologies to the OP for the massive derailment.

Indeed, I think most people are too quick to forget the good and focus solely on the bad. There is a lot of good in us as a race, you just have to look hard enough (or maybe even not that hard at all, in the case of the little things).

On topic however, good call on the tail to go with the wings, flying without the tail would be somewhat difficult :p

I would add (especially on the theme of the dragon) some form of internal mechanism for heating the body better, as flying around at high altitudes would be insanely chilling, to the point where I just wouldn't feel that the speedy travel outweighs the discomfort in doing it.

I would prefer humanity to be the most powerfull rather then just taking what it needs.
May I ask why? If we have reached the point where we are surviving perfectly well, and quite luxuriously to boot, then what more is there to gain from a further quest for power?

Genitalia of a whale, or to be serious the survivability of the anthrax spore, ANTARCTICA HERE I COME!
Yeah, but if you have the genitalia of a whale, you would skewer any woman you made sweet whale love to. Not to mention you would require all the blood in your blood just to get the thing up...

OT: Wings, easily. Either hat or the powers of the immortal jellyfish. Cookie if you can guess what powers those would be.

Not to mention money that would be spent on gas, car upkeep, car insurance, and car payment.

Oooo, I remember reading about those guys! That is an awesome idea. And you could also light up rooms with your sonoluminescence.

I think the speed and jumping strength (plus horns if I can has it too) that gazelles have. Many gazelles can hit 50 miles and hour, and can jump pretty damn far. And our legs are a bit bigger than theirs (well not if you combine their front and back ones) so we could jump even higher.

Tail! Every since I was little, it's been a dream to have a tail, and it still is.

Between a tail and a pair of wings, it would be wings no contest. As for any animal trait, I'd probably have to go with enhanced night vision just because it wouldn't be such a nuisance to see where I'm going when it's pitch black.

Being able to use sonar, like a bat.
Actually humans are capable of echolocation, we just use eyesight as it is FAR more convenient.

OT: The ability to shoot playing cards out of my mouth at an incredibly rapid pace... No wait no animal does that. YET *runs of to the mad scientist laboratory*

Seriously though I can't think of anything besides the above I would want as I can see far too many downfalls (Running in to things at high speed isn't very fun, nor is freezing from flying too high, tails can get caught in things...)
