So I was watching Whitechapel with my mom. It's a crime series where there are murders who are based around certain periods of history, like the Jack The Ripper killings and witch hunts.
And one dude gets tortured to death by having weights placed on his stomach until his entire ribcage breaks. No, no, it's OK, I didn't really want to keep that dinner anyway.
Anyway, that's a bit irrelevant. In one of the seasons, there's a man with ergotism. Being the curious person I am, I looked it up, and it was apparently a decease caused by eating moldy rye in the 16th century.
One of the symptoms? Gangrene. Having heard of it, but never seen pictures of it, I looked it up and-
WHY DID I LOOK THAT UP?! WHYYYYY?!
Honorable mention: Lotus feet. Just...lotus feet. Those poor geishas...
...Oh yeah, discussion value. So, similar experiences?
Now that I think about it, this is going to be the biggest schmuck bait thread in quite a while, possibly.
