This isn't a review, I'd put that in the review section.

This is a complaint I've yet to see voiced on here.

This is a PC game for the PC Master Race, I'm well aware and take pride in that.

This Game is one of the funnest and hardest games I have ever played.

This Game is stunningly beautiful in ever sense of the word.

This game runs like a fucking console port. Thats my issue, I understand that this game has a huge requirement, but with a GTX 580, one would think I could run at least above med range settings, but no, this game is highly un-optimized, sure it could all be fixed with the next driver update, or game patch, but the point being that if the game boasts Nvidia and PC's in general, you'd think they'd get their shit together make game the game run smoothly. I really love this game, but playing it in a slideshow is irritating in the least. I know the first one had issues with he cinematics being un-optimized, but this is the entire game. Don't tell me its just me, google "poor Performance on High-end rigs on Witcher 2." Honestly, I'm not that pissed, but when people herald this as the reason why the PC is better, i can't help but think of these issues. If any of you have any words of wisdom on how to get it run better, much thanks, but the point remains, if these issues exist, it surely can't be the best thing PC has to offer.

Just had a similar experience with Brink. Waiting on Witcher 2 to come down on price - I enjoyed the first, but not enough to pay full price :p

However, you have identified one of the reasons a lot of developers dislike PCs. An xbox is an xbox is an xbox. PCs come in all sorts of flavours. anything from my friends nvidia 7600 to your GTX 580, with my 265 in between. Thats just graphics cards. I'm not defending shoddy coding, just observing that it is harder on pc than console.

i run it on 15 FPS with my i3 card, and it still runs better than most games do at 40+

Problem, Master Race?

Seriously man, just move on. Every platform has unoptimized games, and as previously pointed, the PC more than others due to the sheer complexity of coding all flavors of PC gaming. Complain to the developers, and if they're aware of the problem, hopefully wait for a patch.

Dual 6870's here running with a AMD hex-core and 8gigs of ddr3, ran without a problem once I turned ubersampling off. Have you tried that?

It really isn't that resource hungry that i've noticed.

bam, 100 fps
Already done that, Its driver issues.. or at least best I can figure, I used a beta driver, helped a tad.
boosted like 30 frames, but its very iffy, it'll be good is some areas, but in some its horrible, and its not standard for the course drops either, like in outside areas it'll be great, walk inside, and it should go up right, cause theres less to render, nope, drops like a fucking rock.

Ah, a prime example of any software based PC problem. Theres always at least one post with that.

Is interesting. I know that we're all waiting on better drivers for the game, but it shouldn't be THAT bad with the GPU you've got.

What's the rest of your system like?

At the early stages of the game (the tavern in chapter 1 was the main culprit) I was having massive texture loading issues, but other than that it's been pretty much sweet.

If you turn it down to Medium, it will probably be playable, and may still have comparable graphics to most console games, so I still don't see it as a "mark against PC gaming".

That said, we've learned in our 3D class that hardware can act very differently depending on how you program the API. I guess it's possible some unexpected difference of hardware causes the issue.

He complaied about the games optimization, not it's video card compatibility or the quality of drivers.

lol that sucks, i'm running my hd radeon 5770 like a boss on near all ultra settings (besides ubersampling) and it's running fine.

idk what else to say if you've tried tweaking it

I don't have a rig that can actually run the game smoothly on Ultra settings, so I can't entirely relate since my performance seems fine for what I was expecting, but there's still the DLC authentication issues and random crash to desktops at odd intervals plaguing me. I'd soldier on regardless because the game is awesome, but I'm at the point where I'm pretty sure if I keep playing I'm going to "finish" chapter one, and I'd really like to get that darn Troll Trouble side quest out of the way so I can get that last ingredient for another side quest on my quest log.

Fortunately the word is the patch to address that issue (along with performance problems caused by the SecuRom in the retail versions and I think the aspect ratio problem as well) should be coming out either today or tomorrow. Unfortunately I really hate waiting, argh!

Well,it was great in the tutorial, but now in the jail, almost unplayable, AMD Phemon X6 1100T, 8 gigs of 1600MHz... what exactly are you wanting me to tell you? I have the list of the part here, but I don't think i need to go through the whole things?

Not trying to be a dick, but what does Optimization mean to you? To me it means that its Optimal on most set-ups out there and can work with most software as well.

CD Projekt has acknowledged that the game has some graphics problems on high end NVIDIA cards. They are coming out with a patch to fix it, and have some troubleshooting tips on their website, such as uninstalling the 3D vision aspect of your driver.

i have a 8800gts. c2d e6750 or something like that. windows 7 and i can run it on ultra with out any issues.

on high this game looks awesome and i couldnt tell much differnce between high and ultra.

too me this game seems optimised. i dont have a high end computer by todays standards but i can run the game on high. doesnt that mean its optimised?
