Firefox has a spell checking system, Chrome does and if you have an attachment or whatever for it, Internet Explorer does too.

Do you need it?

Would you sound much worse if you didn't have it to save you when you screw up a word?

I know I would. I really rely on it too much.

Most of the time I spell my words properly. I'm good at catching my mistakes before posting anything, and rarely rely on a spell-checker.

Most of the time, yes. It's simply convenient and helps me come off as even smarter without having to edit my posts over and over and over again...

Without spell check I can spell most words due to the fact I am trying then, with it I misspell everything out of laziness.

I'm pretty good at spelling... most of the time it's just little mistakes on big words. I always look for the red squiggly line. I often feel myself trying to look for it in real life... but I also try to put my spray on the walls until I realize it's not Counter-Strike...

I've never used a spellchecker. I'm sure I've misspelt words before, but usually I'll catch myself.

It certainly helps a lot. Most of my spelling mistakes come from typing mistakes rather than not knowing how to spell the word though.

I don't need one, but it helps.

I wouldn't sound too bad, but there would be a fair amount of errors.

Still, I (Eventually) did fairly decent without a Spell Checking program, but I do love having one, I love it so.
(It's also set to UK spelling, but that's semi-irrelevant)

I normally spell about 85% of my words right initially, and catch another 5-10% upon rereading.

I would've misspelled 'initially'.

I have English spellcheck in Firefox on my desktop, but Dutch spellcheck on my laptop (my native language isn't English, it's Dutch). So whenever I write English on my laptop, I start screwing up, especially on big words. My grammar probably isn't perfect either.

PS: Anyone know how to change the language of the spellcheck in Firefox?

I usually spell words correctly.

There are some words that I seem chronically incapable of spelling correctly without a spell-checker though. Like 'hierarch' (I always switch the i and e). Not that spell-checkers actually help with that word, it has to go through 'hierarchy' first.

I won't deny that it's come in handy more than I would have thought, but a lot of that has been due to missd keys and the like.

It's also handy if I know I don't know the spelling of a word.

I usually spell words correctly. I notice a typo mid-typing, generally. If all else I'd catch an error before I hit the 'post' button, and in the off chance that I miss that, I usually read my post as well.
