I can't remember if it was the first game I bought on launch, but I do remember getting Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on launch. I think before that, it had been cheap older games.

Wait, no...I think I got Resident Evil 2 on N64 on launch a couple of years earlier.

Forgive me, I'm old and confused these days.

That has never occurred.

I did win a copy of BioShock in a competition that I think arrived within the first week of its release.

EDIT: Just remembered: there has been at least one game I bought within a week of its (Swedish) release. Elite Beat Agents for the Nintendo DS. Which I bought simultaneously with the machine itself and two other titles.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I think Super Metroid. I remember being so excited for it and my mom got it for me on what I think was launch day, I remember gushing over the box and instruction book while waiting for my sister to get done with horseback riding so I could go play it. Before that I think the newest game I got was probably Mario 3, I don't think I got it at launch but I think I got it pretty close to launch. I remember getting it not long after seeing 'The Wizard' and there was an arcade machine at the theater that let you play a few levels of Mario 3 and I got it not long after that.

For a game I got myself... hmm... Maybe Conkers? I'm really not sure, it would have been either psx or n64, but I don't recall the first game I preordered, which would have probably been the first game I got on launch.

Maybe Lunar or Lunar 2 for the psx. I don't recall if I got Lunar on launch day, but I'm pretty sure I would have preordered Lunar 2.

Resident Evil 3, bought it, beat it, returned it all on the same day lol.

There were multiple endings, alternate paths, costumes, multiple characters epilogues to set up the downfall of Umbrella and the beginning of RE4 (most of which that didn't matter and RE4 went through 5 different rewrites to where the game's prologue has Umbrella's death happened off-screen), and the first Mercenaries Mode ever made.

Don't recall if it was release day but pretty sure the oldest game was Zelda: A Link to the Past with my paper route money.

I really couldn't remember something like that, but it will have been PS1 between 1997-2000. I worked in a hobby/game shop and staff purchase prices weren't much more than the cost price.

Hm, the day it came out? Unlikey i ever did that. I mean you had to hear about it first, which means somebody had to have it first? Also i lived in a a village, which means the shop likely had to order it, if it wasn't a big title. Usually games "found their way" to me months or years after release.

Possible that i read something in a magazine and went out and through luck got it fast.

Well, i remember having my brother in law get me "Mortal Kombat IV", when i wasn't 18. That was planned and expensive i remember. Might be nearly day 1.

Also i got myself Max Payne 2 and Half Life 2 full price at launch. But that was years later.

Twilight Princess on Gamecube.

I had been emulating bunch of zelda games by this point, and I just knew I had to get the new Zelda game. So i begged my mom and she got it for me after doing well in school.

It really was one of the best experiences I had with GC, and comfort me in my lonely middle school years.

Still have it stored behind a glass shelf, with original case and user manual
