We all know the puny wolves of Skyrim, weak, pathetic creatures who's sole purpose in life is to provide Dovahkiin with hides for fashioning leather strips, or occasionally some coins here and there.

So here is my question, have you ever actually been killed by wolves, or even genuinely threatened?

OT: I did once find a dead dragon next to a wolf, I keep telling myself the dragon was so disappointed by it's opponent that it killed itself.

Ice wolves can be threatening at level 7 or so. I don't think I've ever been killed by one, though.

The fact that I can't travel 200 meters down a path on my horse without having to stop, get off my horse and kill the wolves swarming me every other goddamn minute.

I usually get a spectral horse so that he can't die at all. Thus wolves aren't a problem while riding and I avoid them so often that I only have about two or three fights against them. None of them were lethal to me, so nope..

I've come to the point where saber cats and bears are about as easy as wolves were.

Ever get that loading screen tip that says "Bears are peaceful creatures and wont attack unless provoked" ?

so why am I being charged by bears every five minutes?

Bears wrote that, obviously.

One scared the crap outta me once. checked my inventory for a moment and when i left it the thing was right there in my face and started barking. killed by any? nope. just annoying like skeevers. kill the one infront of you turn around and kill the other. and for some godawfull reason the wild animals think roads are the forest and you can literaly spend an hour in the woods and not see anything but a fox and some deer.

Wolves - the mosquitoes of Skyrim? Try Dragons - the Cliffracers of Skyrim. Always scaled (yes, bad pun intended) to your level so they're never really a challenge, always show up when you're on the way to somewhere more important, buzz about overhead for five bloody minutes before finally landing and then being easily dispatched by axe, spell or sword within thirty seconds. I think Skyrim is an amazing game, but I still feel that the Dragons should be more of a threat and less of an inconvenient annoyance.

OT - The only time I've ever been threatened by wolves is when I ran into a pack of Ice Wolves west of Winterhold when I was level six. Other than that, no. You would've thought that packs of wolves (even ravenously hungry ones) would have learned to give heavily armoured, fireball wielding adventurers a wide berth, but apparently not. It's not even like they're able to eat you even if they kill you, because if you're in a full suit of Dwemer plate they'd need a can-opener...

I just let my horse take care of them. That's how little threat they are to me, I stand back eating baked potatoes and drinking Alto wine whilst my horse hoofs them to death.

Just keep going.
It's not like they can do anything, and they'll eventually just give up.

Haha..good one, that's obviously a lie of course.

OT: Wolfs are indeed the mosquitos of Skyrim. They appear out of nowhere, only for me too beat their face in with my fists and then take their skin.
Pelt for leather and leather strips too either make iron daggers or leather bracers, good for leveling up smithing.

I've been killed by some Ice Wolves a few times while I was questing from Whiterun to Northwatch Keep to rescue that Grey-Mane guy.. what was his name? Thorald I think. I was only level 3 or 4 when I did that, so I encountered some pretty tough enemies after I passed through Dragon Bridge (was only a prelude to what was to come at Northwatch! God damn that shit is hard at such an early level). The fact that I play on Master difficulty certainly doesn't help xD

I've found bears to be far more annoying, if only because I get a bloody disease from them every single time I have to fight them.

Anyway. Wolves are annoying but tbh I find dragons more annoying. They always seem to swop in when Im doing something important.

I've had more problems with bears than with wolves. Until recently, bears were among the most evil things in the game. I even saw a dragon get taken out by two bears. Sure it was only a normal dragon and they were snow bears, but still. I was also killed by mudcrabs once, but they have received a major upgrade since Oblivion and I was only level two or three.

Anyway, the most interesting run-in I've had with wolves recently was when I was roaming around and found a saber cat without knowing what it was at first. I then said "here doggy doggy" just before realizing what it was. I'm still watching it when I've realized what it is when something bites me in the butt, and here's the funny part, it was a wolf. So I guess I got what I called for.

Everything in the game, The Mosquitos of Skyrim.
Seriously, I've hit a point and I'm now near enough invincible.

Yeah Bears are worse than the wolves, In fact I'll go as far to say I saw a Bear kill a dragon once. On Topic, isn't there a power, or skill upgrade that won't cause them to attack anymore? Because I thought once you had the Werewolf blood in you wolves won't attack you, but I was wrong.
