There is a very simple evolutionary explanation for it.

Women don't need to be funny. Not to be confused with they can't be funny. And still yet a woman still needs a sense of humor. In case you're wondering, yes you can have a sense of humor and not be funny.

A man who cannot make a woman laugh may as well consider themselves removed from the gene pool. So it is in our genetics, in our nature for men to have a comical side.
