As my pictures both in my avatar and the more recent one I've got in my profile show, I have a goatee...I initially grew it three years ago because the girl I was with at the time...shall we say...gently persuaded me to grow it. In the three years since I've drawn more attention from women (both on dates and just out in the world) than I did when I was clean-shaven, but that might be due more to my more confident demeanor as I've grown older, so...

Is it true that (to quote my ex-wife) "chicks dig beards"?

Good to see its National ask Women questions week on The Escapist.

I once grew a handlebar moustache, I looked bad ass.

It really all depends on the style and person, some people can pull it off while others just look awful with them.

Regardless of how this thread turns out (most likely with the majority going for 'clean shaven'), I wouldn't dream of changing the way I look - except when I get bored of it, of course. Seriously, I'll choose being without a girl over compromising my beardyness... I just don't like the way I look without a beard.

Yeah how many threads about asking women questions have we had this week?
[sub]It would also be international because escapists come from all kinds of different places.[/sub]

A downfall of guys looking to grow facial hair is that they don't keep it clean. Trim it! Yes, even every day if your hair grows fast. Don't let it get messy and patchy. That's gnarly.

So, if it's taken care of I don't mind too much. As long as it's not the thin pedostache. Oh god, no. D:

I hope my never cut and soft-as-a-mouse beard/tash is attractive to the females out there.
But, if it's not, I'm not too bothered.

That seems to be more of a douchebag-stache than anything else.

Either way I shall avoid it.

Hmmm... not really.
Although... a nice mustache... how could I say no...
It really depends on the style, and how well kept it is :|

When I can grow a good moustache a mighty handlebar moustache will decorate the area beneath my nose. The ladies must like it!

Hmm, well, stubble is very hot, on most guys. Don't mind a full beard either, but everything else is no-go.

This is very heteronormative of you, Fox. I'm almost disappointed that you couldn't take the extra three hours to include every demographic, sexuality and taste. How lazy!

Sandpaper face is bad. Seriously bad. I don't care how badass the man thinks he looks, close contact is abrasive. If the hair is long enough to be soft, sure, though the style depends on the facial structure of the man in question. Clean shaven is often worthwhile because it really works for some people.

But seriously, no fucking sandpaper face.

My hair grows like it's on a permanent growth spurt. That's bad news for me I figure.
