No discussion of Women in Rock is complete without mention of:
Kim Gordon

Patti Smith

and
Poison Ivy
Not to mention Wanda Jackson, Peaches, and the Deal sisters.

Oh special props to Stonefield Australia's XX version of Hanson only you know, good. Those young girls (very young, too young!) have a lot of talent, I'm sure they'll only grow musically.

Punk is welcome here.

Some great choices there, it's a shame that strong female music is very rare nowadays, that's why I cling on to new bands like Warpaint which give me a tiny shed of hope that there are a few girls around who still know how to rock.
Haha! I was going to say Warpaint, but didn't with all the talk of metal I didn't think it appropriate!

Have you heard the Suckerpunch soundtrack? That is a good one for modern strong female artists! The other one is Little Dragon... They are appearing in quite a few different collaberations, and have some good stuff themselves!

Talking of Suckerpunch... and strong leading women in rock... Bjork anyone?

I haven't heard the Sucker Punch soundtrack, but I quite like Little Dragon from what little I have heard from them, the song the singer did with SBTRKT is awesome.

Bjork is mostly Electronic, the same as Portishead, but they have both been know to dabble in a bit of Rock I suppose.

Lol, I suppose not, but she does have a kind of rocky edge to her music... kinda prog-rock in a way at times...! I suppose she is about as much rock as the Corrs or something though! :S
