Meh, really as of right now I don't care how much skinny she looks. Muscle, weigth, those things she can gain and if she was chosen because she was the one who stand out the most then I really don't have a problem. And if goes horribly wrong I supose they always pull a Bruce Banner and have her replaced in the next movie.

So, yeah, not completly losing my shit over this... yet.
Yeah, she can put the weight and muscle on. People often do for roles like this, and we'll just have to wait and see how she does.
Sure, actors do that all the time. Toby Maguire bulked up like crazy for spiderman, Hugh Jackman always spends months working out before playing Wolverine, so it's not unheard of in hollywood for an actor to train up for a role. Question is, how often do women do that? I can't really think of a single actress that "bulked up" for any role.
The actress that played Faora in Man of Steel did actually :D So if the same guys are in charge getting them to train, she may be contracted to do so for the role.

I think it's a great idea, they seem to think they can't do a stand alone film, which is silly, but now they will have an opening to do so I guess.
Why silly? Wonder Woman has nowhere near the level of popularity or impact of the other two characters. The TV pilots have failed to wow so it's no surprise her own movie has never been made. I'm surprised the Green Lantern got a movie for the same reason, and wasn't surprised when it was awful. I think the only other character that could possibly support a movie is the Flash, or possibly Green Arrow. I can't see any of the others supporting a movie of their own. Aquaman for example, I imagine would bomb big time.

The tragedy is that DC owns the movie rights to all their characters, unlike Marvel who can't use XMen, Spiderman, Fantastic Four or until relatively recently, the Hulk. They could have had WW appear in Smallville while it was on, in any of the Nolan/Bale Batmans or even the pointless MoS, a pointless origin story that didn't need retelling. Getting her into the public conciousness might well have paved the way for her own film.

DC are mishandling all their characters, making poor choices consistently. But OT, an invisible plane and golden lariat that forces people to tell the truth won't work in the cinema and a skimpy outfit isn't enough to carry a movie. Catwoman is evidence of that.

Iron Man was an unknown character to the non-comic reader, yet that turned out to be a success. I see what you're saying, but I personally think it's silly that DC thinks it cannot make a Wonder Woman film to start her off based on that alone.

So in what ways can they make the Wonder Woman character more dark and angsty? Maybe she was kicked off of Thymescera. Or maybe she actually and actively hates men. I'm sure there are more ways they can screw with her character the way they screwed with Superman.

I have a thought, maybe this is all a psyche out, perhaps Man of Steel and the upcoming SvB are from Earth #whatever and when they make Justice League the real heroes we actually know from Prime (or whichever Earth # is the main of the DCU nowadays) will show up and take out these imposters.

You know the more I look at Antje Traue and her performance during MoS and other roles, she should have been Wonder Woman. I have nothing against Gal she doesn't seem to have a presence when I've seen her on screen. That's my personal experience seeing both women act. On the physical side she is waif thin and could "buff up". No matter how mass she puts on, standing next to Cavill's mass and Affleck's height, she'll seem shorter and smaller on screen as well, if not shot correctly. Snyder has to balance scaling of the 3 are in the same room (Pulling a Tom Cruise). With that the more I hear about this production the more it seem disappointing. But I'll leave my final judgement when I see it. I hope I won't be disappointed with the final product.

Couldn't they have picked Gina Carano instead?

Like Gal Gadot, she was also in Fast & Furious and as far as I'm concerned, on par in terms of acting talent.
Also, she's a fitness model and former mma fighter, so she's not adverse to getting buff and already knows how to kick ass.
Looks a lot more like an Amazon warrior princess to me.

I agree with you completely. We'll just have to wait and see, she could make the performance of her life with the role. Which is what I'm hoping for, I liked MoS despite its problems, so I'm willing to put up with a few changes to the norm with an adaption.

Looks aren't everything but you wouldn't cast a skinny guy to play Superman, would you?
On the other hand, would you cast a guy a foot taller than Wolverine is in the comics?
Height may not be as important as everything else.

I can't think of any actresses taht have bulked up for a role. Created muscle sure, but bulked up? Like the same way that Cavil bulked up? I mean I doubt that Cavil could even wear the same shirt size after his work out routine. It's doubtful that Gadot will go up a dress size or two and then create muscle on top of that. When you look at examples such as Jessica Beil in the Blade sequels and Linda Hamilton for T2 their muscles were very impressive, but by looking at pictures of them before/after those roles I'd hesitate to say that they bulked up, just took what they had and created muscle out of it.

But speaking of Linda Hamilton, based on her body type that might be what we can look forward too. She's still super model slender, just with muscles.

Its not bad but for Wonder Woman? Who knows maybe it will look better in the suit or maybe she will actually bulk up after all.

In either case all any fans of the chracter can do now is hope that Gadot can act, or that the director wants more than a "hot mysterious chick with an accent" for the role. Because "hot mysterious chick with an accent" pretty much sums up the chracter Gadot played in Fast and the Furious.

And just for context this is Jessica Biel.
This is Jessica Biel as she looked in Blade Trinity.

She just has more ..er meat on her bones so it looks more impressive when she does the working out necessary to make her muscles defined.
