Wonderlocke Challenge for Pokemon

Good afternoon Escapees

I was just wondering if anyone here has also done a wonderlocke challenge up to this point on either xy or oras ?

If your unfamiliar with it, its basically the same as Nuzlocke except that you wondertrade the mon you recieve right away and stick with it. I personally altered the rules to my own comfortability (is that a word ;o? if its not....it is now...)to say I have to catch the first 5 on the first route and trade them in right away, then stick to the rest of the game with them. If one faints because I make a mistake...I have to run the rest of the game with 5....etc etc.

If its of any help...I put my status as 'sry, Wonderlocke' and named each pokemon I caught 'Wonderlocke' respectivaly...so I hope the folks who traded me for a crappy wurmple arent too cross with me....

Nevertheless, if anyone ever has? whats your team set up? At the end of it all (throwing mon that are over lvl 10....got a charmander that was level 34...'sighs'...back into the trade)

To be fairly honest I do think its a pretty balanced team. Anyone else whos tried this up to this point ?

That sounds... actually pretty interesting. I love doing Nuzlockes - I'm in the middle of a Nuzlocke run of Y at the minute with a team of Farfetch'd, Pidgeotto, Honedge, Gulpin, Wartortle and Braixen - but that definitely sounds like a neat take on the idea. I've never actually used the Wondertrade feature, might be worth a shot. That or doing a Wedlocke.

Good team though, definitely well-balanced. I have to ask though, are you using the EXP Share, because that makes a Pokemon X/Y Nuzlocke a lot easier. And, how goes the Wonderlocke? Is it any easier, or harder?

hmm well up to this point its going quite well I spose hehe seeing as in OR you cant wondertrade until after the first gym leader I 'blew through it' not letting those rules count up until it was unlocked for me.

Exp.Share Im going to forbid myself from using simply because...as you said it will make things too easy hehe, seeing as in Y I mass trained my Mew (which Im ever so thankful for for a specific person on these forums <3) all my others mass leveled with it which I found sorta a shame.

It seems...'harder' if I limit myself to only those 6 and going with 5/4 etc etc if any of them faint I must admit the attacks Im getting are varying more at the current time and the affection system is a lifesaver in some positions. Dratini got a crit which wouldve made him faint but 'held on' for me...(thank you lord...haha)

So if looking at it all, I would consider it to be more difficult then a Nuzlocke (atleast in this respect) seeing as if I were unlucky...I wouldve had to run my game with a wurmple/caterpie/poochyena/zigzagoon/weedle and...what do I know haha..one of those ruddy monkeys haha^^. I do believe I got immensely lucky with my trades, seeing as they can all evolve quite well/have a balanced team.

You got extremely lucky with the six you got on wonder trade, except for the Buneary of course.

I remember coming up with the idea of a "Wonderlocke" very shortly after I learned about wonder trading, I just never got around to trying it myself. Although my idea of a Wonderlocke would be to wonder trade any Pokemon of mine that faints, and use whoever I get in return as opposed to losing a team member slot permanently.

What we used to do on the Pokemon board on 4chan is mystery eggs.

We'd just send six eggs to someone from our breeding bank, and they'd have to roll with whatever hatched.

I did a run with Eevee, Lapras, Hoot Hoot, Pidgey, Abra and whatever Sharpedo evolves from.

You don't get the most balanced teams, cause it's usually pretty random (esp if you get eggs from diff people) but extremely fun.
