Set up a thread with a really whack question and mail the first (arbitrary number) of people to get it right 10 bucks.

I had a guildy do that once. He won like 15K and mailed the first 15 people who got the weird question he though up a 20.
I didn't actually win anything... I hope you realize that <_<
I know. Maybe I misread the thread, but I thought you were asking for random ideas of what to do if someone did. Feel free to yell at me if I had a blonde moment.
RAAAAWWWWR. This is me yelling at you. Nah, I just made this thread cuz I though it was a lame yet funny scam.

I also wanted people to make up funny things ending with "powered by the internet".

I love that line :3

My [insert phallic male object] is powered by the internet.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

I'm so witty, I should write serious porn. Those things are epic.

"Oh I'm so hot for you fat plumber, can you clean my pipes? *wink wink*"

God I'm hitting creepy again aren't I? <_<;;

Edit: I think it's getting late for me, I should stop before I get a warning/probation...

If you ever actually win, you're going to find out that you have a lot more friends and family members than you realize, your winnings are going to be a lot smaller than what you've been told, and you probably will only be able to access so much of it from the bank every month. Oh and charities will pester you for donations nonstop.

Money is EVIL! It corrupts you, soon your friends will leave you and nobody will like you, you will feel empty and have found no happiness, you will cry and you will be bored to hell because everything just gets given to you with no effort on your part, it will make you suffer.

Because i'm such a good person, give me your money and I will "suffer" for you!!!

Will the charities be powered by the internet?

I smell a dirty, rotton phish. There's no way a legitimate lottery would send out notifications through Yahoo-created email accounts. Brace yourself for attempted identity theft, mate.

THE EMAIL!

seriously, did you enter it or is it a scam

Its a scam, unless you entered the lottery, DON'T OPEN THE EMAIL.
The fact that he said at the end of his post "powered by the internet" to put emphasis on the obvious nature of the scam, i would assume he was being sarcastic with nature and tone of this thread.

In other words, he knows its a scam.

OT- Honestly, the fact that its made too obvious to tell if it is a scam on some of these things makes for some really good laughs.

1. Give me a tenner.
2. Accept their terms of downloading their "Not a virus I promise" terms and conditions document.

How do you download terms and conditions as a term and condition? No one knows, that's how obviously real this is.

Probably more like the creep door to door Jehova's Witnesses who try to convert you. They happen to be powered by the Internet though. If you watch them as they leave, you can see Ethernet cables going up their clothes.

This reminded me of the massive yacht sketch from that Mitchell and Webb look, too bad I don't know how to put video's on forums ): .
That's the first thing I thought of too.

It's a shame for the OP that it probably isn't an eccentric billionaire running a lottery out of goodwill for random strangers, who is a bit out of touch with technology and thinks that everything connected by a Ethernet cable is "powered by the Internet".

However, it would be hilarious yet tragic if there was some eccentric but bedridden and terminally ill Ex-Pat billionaire in Hong Kong, trying to in vain give away his fortune before he dies... with his new-fangled computer (that is "powered by the Internet") being his only method of contact with the outside world.

EDIT: However, in this case it is obviously a scam. Why would a Hong Kong e-mail address have a UK phone number?

The scam is probably that the UK phone number you call is a super-duper premium rate number that starts earning them (and charging you) hundreds of pounds as soon as you're connected.

EDIT EDIT: A quick Google search reveals it's probably those pesky Nigerians again, up to their shenanigans:

But go to the libary and use their computer to open it, than you're not risking your own computer.

Well, you could mail them back (with a different adress no less), that you are a humble nigerian prince who would like to share his wealth with them....

Wouldn't lottery companies and such, use a personalized email address instead of using yahoo?

Please tell me you're joking....

Okay so I actually Googled it before leaving, and people have actually fallen for this. People have been asking support forums if it's legitimate. It's so funny when they say they talked to them over the phone!
