My phrase to always live by that has saved my skin more times than I care to mention:

"Knowledge is power, guard it well" - Blood Ravens Chapter Motif and my personal mantra..

I'm so tempted to toss in some Imperium of Man dogma. Instead, I'll say that you have to find your strengths and make them work, at almost any cost.

Something Furburt said once in a thread quite some time ago has stuck with me ever since (even though it wasn't aimed at me).
Furburt said:
Go on, take the plunge. Tis better to regret something you have done than regret something you haven't.
Also, my personal motto: "Don't be afraid to try something new! A lone amateur built the Ark and a group of professionals built Titanic!"

Both of these quotes have changed my life for the better after I found 'em.

"Early to rise and early to bed, makes a man healthy, but socially dead."

Okay, that was a gag quote... here's the real one I live by:
"Self-improvement is the most noble of goals."

I have quite a few:

"Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think"

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

"Let go of your attachment to being right, and suddenly your mind is more open. You're able to benefit from the unique viewpoints of others, without being crippled by your own judgment.
-- Ralph Marston"

Never pressure.
Never judge."
I cannot recall where I've heard it, but I true to the best of my abilities to abide by it.

"The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit."

and the one i live by is:

"Bravery is being the only one who knows you're afraid"
