I'm sure everyone has words they can't pronounce, no matter how short or simple they are. What are some of yours? I myself can never bring...myself...to pronounce literally. Even if I walk through it slowly, it always sounds wrong. It kind of helps when I read it though.

ever since my english 112 class i cant pronounce the word compromise. we had this execrise where everyone said a word and after that we had to make a sentence using only those words. well this one girl in my class got to hers and instead of saying com-pro-mise said com-promise.

I keep mixing up the pronunciations of compensate and confiscate. Sometimes I subconsciously try to pronounce both simultaneously.

conpenscate?

Btw, sometimes when I try to say compensate, I say it with an n instead of an m.

Exactly the problem I have, only without the m and n.

I can't really think of any off the top of my head. I find it very easy to pronounce most words after simply reading them once or twice over and saying them in my head. Though I know I've encountered words I just couldn't figure out. Usually on a packaging for food or drink. D< Why is this shit in my foodstuffs? Though I do have a bit of an odd habit of elongating my S sounds. Ssoundss. xD

If were on the topic of words people can't pronounce, try saying these tongue twisters 5 times fast: Irish Wristwatch, Unique New York, and everyone's favorite Toy Boat.

Difficult, don't you agree?

sixths, asked
You are right, that is a tricky one. Even just 'sixth', without the s on the end. Usually I just pronounce it sicth, but I occasionally like to pronounce it proper like.

Fifth (or 'fith' as most people, including myself, pronounce it) is just as bad. Well, almost.
I don't really have a problem with fifths, but sixths, definitely.

Any Welsh word and most Arabic ones. I can pronounce most words from most languages but those two always give me trouble.
