It happens rarely, but I like it when it happens. usually spend the day joking with my coworkers and making paper planes. I have made a shitload of paper planes.

I work for my dad in construction, mainly doing housekeeping type work at the yard where I work. When I'm done everything I've been told to do, I sweep the floor inside the shop, look for tools to put away, and sometimes if no one's looking, I'll clean stuff that doesn't even need to be cleaned, or I'll sweep the floor even if it's already been swept. Basically, if I don't have anything left to do, and no one needs me to give them a hand with anything, I'm supposed to either make it look like I'm working, or stay out of sight.

Radio announcers also have their moments of doing-shit-all-time. When they're playing songs (which is done automatically by the station's computer) or otherwise not talking on the air, and they already have their show prep (what they're going to say on-air, like news stories and such), lined up, they have free reign to watch Youtube videos, eat, piss, whatever they feel like - just as long as they finish in time to go back on-air.

I kind of miss my job delivering newspapers - or I would if the pay wasn't complete garbage and I could work more than once a week. Once I got my 300ish papers dropped off at my house, I had pretty much the whole day to fold, pack, drive/walk around, and deliver them. And once I was done, I went home. None of that standing around bullshit to "put in the hours."

It makes me feel like I'm stealing money when I get paid for not doing any work.

Work at an oil lube, sometimes its bust as hell, and sometimes its just dead. Whenever its dead, I do whatever needs to be done around the place(sweep, empty trash, pump dirty oil into the drums we eventually throw into the dolphin habitat, etc).

But if everything is taken care of, then I just kick up my feet and watch TV. And I can do that for hours until my boss comes down from his house, calls me the ethnic slur of the day and sends me home. Greedy bastard doesn't want to pay me to watch Law and Order.

I work at a UPS Store, so theres usually something to do, such as taking out trash/recyclables, restocking, and other little things, and that's if I'm not helping customers or packing something, but in the event it is really slow, I can usually go on the internet, text, etc. which is nice

Ah but you see the trick is if you have a job like that I wouldn't go around saying that, because someone will find more work for you to do.

My job is like that, I work as a TSS (Tech Support Specialist) And it's a fancy title for if a computer breaks down I'm suppose to fix it or some projector or SMARTboard. If nothing is broken; then I do nothing. I learned early on that people like us are offen pulled for extra jobs if we DON'T look busy, so to look busy I stay at my desk most of time and busy myself with my computers.

Ya know; drawing with my tablet, playing STEAM games, browseing Reddit, Kotaku and posting here... just like im doing now.

My job is like one big break broken off by smaller segments of work.
I work as security at a factory, and nothing really happens most of the time.
Every evening i'm there, i have to do a 2-3 hour walk around the factory, to check that everything is as it is supposed ot be, mainly turning off the lights, closing windows, locking doors, and checking that no area is flooded, or somehow malfunctioning in an obvious way.
We answer all the phone calls to the company, take small deliveries outside normal working hours, work as reception for any guests and monitor the factory in case someone should break in (which never happens)
We monitor all the technical alarms, but that basicly consists of calling the people who can fix shit when it breaks, when their respective alarms are flashing.
We're trained to assist the fire department in case of fire, and as first aiders in case of people getting hurt/ill.
But durring evening shifts, 90% of the time not spend patrolling the factory (90% of 4-5 hours), we have nothing to do, but sit and wait for stuff to happen.

We watch tv, dvds, browse the internet, read books, bring labtops and play games, or do homework (those of us there part-time next to school, which is just me atm)
Our boss is fully aware of it, and has no problem with it whatsoever, as long as we're always ready to step up, when something that requires our attention comes up, he thinks it's fine that we keep ourselves occupied. This is especially true durring nightshifts, where it would be easy to drift off if you had nothing to do, but sit and stare into empty air.

The day shifts durring weekdays are bussy, but i'm never there durring that time cause i'm in school, so i'm only there durrign the evening where theres nto a lot going on, and sometimes on dayshifts durrign the weekend, where i sit for 8½ hours doing nothing and then patrol for 2 hours.

Take the rough with the smooth, all jobs have this, round xmas times we do very little for about 2 months :D
You work for the government don't ya? Starting about now our place turns into a ghost town because everyone has use or lose vacation that they never took. Then all shit hits the fan the first week of January.

I got paid $4,000 a month to sit there and tell people to work faster. Literally, that's it.

Does that count?

Seeing as I work as a service clerk (bagging and cart pushing) at a rather popular grocery store over the summer and winter breaks I don't have that. Not to mention that the store manager seems to have figured out the bare minimum number of people to hire and schedule. The store runs on what feels like a skeleton crew. The only down time I get are my 15 minute breaks. Hopefully I get an engineering internship over the summer because as much as I enjoy working there I would rather not.
