Honestly, why would he do that? It's just an iPhone
If you work for Apple and lose something like that then they torture you to death.

Or at least do some nasty shit.

Yeah. Apple does some batshit insane things to people who aren't extra super careful with their prototypes.

Seriously, is another iPhone really worth all the trouble? Everyone already knows your making one.

He didn't work for Apple, he worked for FoxConn. There is a difference, despite what conspiracy theorists/PC elitists say.

OT: That's pretty screwed up. Hope this gets sorted out.

Given experience with how seriously some IT companies take the security of their prototype devices, I can say some of them treat things like phones and computers with greater security than many armed forces do things like guns and missiles. And I'm not knocking the military either. Some companies really don't have a sense of perspective on how irrelevant some of this technology is, or at least a proper appreciation for it's value, when they're that strictly policing it.

With that in mind it's not terribly out of left field, so to speak, to hear that someone felt that pressure. It's always regrettable to see pressure like that get to people. But it happens. Every day.

The topic name is totally misleading.

It was an iphone prototype and not a common one.
Worker commits suicide after loss of iPhone 4G.

I thought everyone would know that 4G iPhones aren't out on the market yet.

A worker for a very powerful corporation looses a very valuable prototype technology and then "commits suicide".

Perhaps I'm a bit cynical, but this doesn't sound like suicide to me...
