Before I moved and lost my job to geography, I worked at a broadcast company that needed workers on both Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. The funny thing about these is that the things we broadcast were sporting events, and live, so these players, the fans in the stands, the camera men, announcers, and so on were all also working on these days.

It's not always a pleasant thing working on the holidays, but it's a lot easier to see the silver lining if you look at the good things. Even though my job was tedious, I can't think of a day where I didn't laugh once. My coworkers were all college students or recently graduated. We made a lot of jokes, and did a lot of silly things. I remember I had a long discussion with the camera man at one of my games (via remote connect to his computer, and notepad), because he plays Worms Armageddon while he films and announces. It's pretty cool, and hellishly entertaining.

Still, shame for anyone that's away from friends or family at work, but you make the best of a bad situation, laugh at the silliness where you can, and hopefully enjoy yourself while you're at it.

And the pay never hurts.

I worked on Christmas Eve, only for a couple hours. We closed up at noon. When I worked at McDonald's a few years ago I worked on Christmas Eve. I actually liked it, the customers seemed to be in a better mood. A lot of people actually said Merry Christmas. One lady that went through the drive through actually gave all the employees that she saw candy canes.

People who go to cinemas on Christmas Eve have absolutely no life what so ever.

I pity you... Maybe you should bring an ipod or something if they ask you to do stuff like this again. It works for me.

Well, it could be that I'm not Christian or anything for that matter (NOT ATHIEST OR AGNOSTIC) I would jump at a chance to work on Christmas because of the 1 and a half pay usually at those times. Also greetings from Australia, Christmas is over here. Its 10:10pm Christmas day.

Yeah, I worked Christmas Eve this year. It wasn't bad, although it was busy, and I do enjoy working where I work, since we always have a laugh. We also managed to plan our Boxing Day bash as well, which was another perk.
